It's difficult for older players from the past to come to grips with the way the game is now played in 2024 and Carey is well and truly one of those. He's been retired for 20 years and the game is totally different to the one he played. The past 5 years has seen dramatic change to the rules, Wright jumped into the air and collected Cunningham in the process, after the Brayden Maynard incident last year the rules are now clear, if you jump in the air and your opponent is flattened expect to receive a suspension. Players will have to learn how to slow down or pull out of contests altogether. it will take sometime for this action to become the norm.

Another case of great footballer, s**t bloke. NRL can have him.

We just had that great tribute to Spud and if his sad end isn't enough to convince you that the game needs to protect players against head injuries then I don't know what to say.

I don't think Wright was trying to iron Cunningham out but he leapt and braced and caught him high. It's about duty of care.

He's given up watching it. But that doesn't mean he can't or won't PLAY it.

We'll sign him. He'll do better than half the flogs at our team.
