Incorrect facts. Ablett was a permanent full forward from '93 - '96. I went to Geelong games and witnessed his entire career, not you. You may have went to one or two of his 6 games when he played for your mob.

Ablett had a scoring shot with every second possession, that's consistent with a player who is the main forward in his team, such as Brendan Fevola who had similar percentages.

It depends on what you mean, if you mean play full-forward every game for a year, or whether it's playing the position at all. In the end it doesn't matter, the career stats of 48% scoring shots show that Ablett pretty much had a go at goal with half his possessions, which makes him a career deep forward anyway. Compare this to Carey's 26% scoring shot percentage and Carey's goalkicking record looks a lot more impressive given his position on the ground. Another reason probably why most consider him the better player of the two.

He would be in the top 3 best players ever. Carey, Matthews, Ablett. For me he is not just the 'best' I have ever seen but the most spectacular, exciting, naturally gifted player to play VFL/AFL.

# 5 in the leading goal kickers. The only in that list that ain't a stay at home full forward. And to think he started as a wingman/half forward. 242 games, 1021 goals (for Geel), 11 State of Origin games for Vic, 43 goals. What's really embarrassing is some of your down right immature and anti filled comments about Snr on YouTube. And you know what I'm on about. Shame others on here don't know what levels you'll go to. It's all pure hatred, Podge. You know it kills you, despite all Haw has achieved since 1961, how great of a footballer Gary Ablett Snr turned out to be. Statistics ARE important, and particularly so with Don Bradman. Matthews is the only player who can claim to be the Don Bradman of our game with his superior statistics and almost universal acceptance as the GOAT.

The 'Don' was a cricketer. A sport played in many countries. VFL/AFL is only taken seriously in 3 states (Vic, SA & WA) in Australia. So who the heck is Matthews??? How many know about him outside Australia, especially the 3 states mentioned.
