Position? He can't get away with CHF in the AFL, you'd want someone with a bit more dash as a loose man in defence. He mostly plays wing but he is a bit flat-footed for that. I love the way he plays, had him as a top-30 last year, but finding a role for him?
Embley type role -wing ,hbf, hff.Perhaps stints on the ball.Watched him almost exclusively in one of the finals recently and was amazed the ground he covered.

Handy player but just hasn't done enough to warrant being selected this year. He has only looked a little above average so far and I expect him to be back for another year at Gippy. He really needs to get his shot at the midfield which he should do next year. Not many clubs are going to go for a guy who has played mostly in the pocket.

There is a pace query as well 3.2 over 20m he's not the quickest guy.

Iles and Lonergan are just good rovers. Heaps of them around, why bother recruiting one unless they are guns? Wait to see how they go in the VFL.

Stanley can't kick to save himself and at 184cm he ain't no CHB. Gutsiest player out there, love to play alongside him, but in the modern possesion-orietented game of keepings off we call AFL ... nup.

Lonergan's ability at the stoppages and ability to push forward and kick goals will see him drafted. Ive got him ranked in my top 15. He is a natural footballer who will appeal to certain clubs such as Melbourne, Sydney and Port Adelaide.

Great and in depth read Weaver but i was wondering where you get all your info from? Surely you haven't seen all these kids play.

All entirely my own opinions formed from watching games ... other than Varcoe, Cheetham, Gamble, Grant and Bailey. On those I have listened to the 'hype' and seen that they have been at draft camp, and so put them in on spec.

Who is the better KPP Ryder or Kennedy .
Ryder has the X factor apparently but is skinny? Kennedy is a better all rounded talent ?
What about Courtney Dempsey would he be worth picking up at 36 ?
Ciao :)

He was towelled up in the Championships. He was nearly anonymous in the finals. He is only on most people's lists by default because of his status as the best ruckman in the TAC Cup. Was a lousy year. McEntee and Ryder will get taken, maybe Graham ... clubs won't be falling over themselves to get the ruck crop this year.
Trent West IMO best ruckman in the draft... From the games I've seen him play, he was one of the power's most consistently good players... from my research he only got selected for Gippsland and Vic country this year... pretty astonishing for one year dont you think? He has come along further than most of the guys in the draft this year... and people had rob warnock before west as best ruckman in the TAC cup!!!! what a joke!!! West is athletic, dedicated and from what I've seen and heard a genuinely nice, chivalrous, intellegent, well respected teenager... a lot more than you can say about a lot of the others in the draft this year...

hey mate... just joined and was the first forum i looked at... i'll be posting plenty more, dont you worry about that... im just commenting on one of the players ive seen... mark murphy ive seen play more times than anyone... hes good... got a lot of talent... fast, fit, skilled, but a bit of a skirt chaser so ive heard...

xavier ellis ive really got no idea about... havent seen him play much but what i have seen has been pretty good...

im a follower of the stingrays... had a good game in the final but power were way too good... the season makes up for it and we'll be back next season... nathan jones, travis tuck, sam carpenter all standout players for me kirkwood and horaczko other standouts as well...

Patrick Ryder has more upside than any player in the draft. If he was a white guy from Melbourne he'd be a lock for the #1 pick. Its been well documented in the WA media that he will be the first WA player chosen. Whether that turns out to be true or not, who is to say, I can see why people might take Kennedy before him, but Ryder has more going for him.

Ryder doesnt get much of the ball at the lower ranks, so whats gunna change at the elite level

With his athleticism, getting more of the ball won't be a problem IMO.

Good effort all up, but most Essendon fans believe we'll take one midfielder, and one KPP (CHB) with our first two picks. The debate is simply over which will be a priority, but I can nearly guarantee we won't go for two mids with round 1 and 2.

Absolutely correct , we wont take two mids in the first round ;)

Weaver, why do you have Hughes ahead of Dowler? Surely if they are similar players the Hawks would err on the side of caution and take the Melbourne boy?

Having seen quite a bit of both Ryder and Kennedy, I would take Ryder first. That said, I'm certain that Kennedy will be a great AFL footballer.

Everyone thinks that the Blues biggest deficiency is in key positions, particularly defenders but the reality is we are just as deficient in the ruck and midfield. Remember, we re-signed Fev and Lance while Campo and Lappo are almost out the door. We have Adam Hartlett with a year under his belt, O'hAilpin coming onto the senior list, Waite and Fisher able to play tall, Saddington traded for. If Livingston would come to the party, the situation looks a little better.

Our midfield as it stands: Kouta in his last year, Stevens, Simpson, Bentick, Walker, Russell, Scotland, occasionally Carrazzo. One player retiring, one established A grade midfielder, one B grade mid (Scotland), one who hasn't shown anything yet (Russell) and 4 players who have had their moments but come with no guarantees.

Considering the lack of skill in our midfield is the main reason for our defence being under the pump all the time and also responsible for a talented forward line not functioning as well as it could, the midfield is ultra important to us.

As mentioned before, Livo at #4 gives us nightmares, I'd hate to repeat the dose at #1.

If you have to resort to racist innuendo to get your point across you're a bigger tool than I thought! As for anything documented in the WA media you may as well believe in fairies.
