Bro what? Lol

Geelong has never had MCG as a Home ground? Is Marvel your Home ground?
NO? Then stop saying stupid rubbish that just makes you look silly.

Why would a competition incentivise a medium sized club to be advantaged over the largest club that makes them more money in marketing, revenue and attendance?
You realise it makes no logistical sense...the persecution complex is hilarious though

Well 2 factors, one is Collingwood fans show up win, lose or draw whilst smaller clubs need success to make money.

Plus you just look at a few of the people who’ve had power at AFL house over the last 10-20 years and where their allegiances lie…

What do we know, they’ve appointed another ex Geelong person as COO

Geelong fans show up too? Otherwise the Finals games they "host" wouldn't be moved to the MCG. And they've consistently been on the fringe of top 5 biggest and this was before Geelong become a powerhouse.
The AFL wants to make the most money possible. Fairness is not considered, it would be highly ironic for anyone with a Pies flair to complain about "fairness"

Pies fans are always the most vocal when it comes to fairness.

After all, a move towards a fair competition will hurt them the most

It’s a very easy one.

No Geelong final at the MCG is going to get less than 40k.

Geelong have played finals (bar one) at the MCG their whole history and have been a very successful club.

The only way there will ever be another final at Geelong is if there is all four games in Melbourne.
Only easy if you don't want a fair competition.

Clearly the AFL is not interested in that with their motto being "Money over fairness"

Geelong have over 90K members. Isn't the fairest thing to allow as many of them to watch the game as possible?

There will be more Geelong fans at this game at the MCG than if it was at Kardinia Park.

That is an undeniable fact.

No, the fairest thing is to let them play the game wherever the hell they want. Number of fans has absolutely nothing to do with it.

The only reason to bring crowds into it, is money.

So what if more Geelong fans can go to a final at the G. The number 1 goal is to win the game and move on, so the game should be wherever that's most likely. Who in their right mind would prefer to attend a loss than miss a win

Well it’s a home final, so they’re doing well which is exactly the point.

Does Geelong v Brisbane when it’s 16 v 18 even sell out Kardinia Park?

Well you lost by 10 points at the MCG and 50 points at the Dump, so surely the MCG is actually fairer to Geelong!!!

Because we would definitely base our desires on this issue around results of the last 12 months and not what's best for the team long term.

You really do say some stupid shit

I think as a generalisation most Cats fans aren't that bothered by it, admitting that probably over the past couple of years we have played better at the MCG than at KP anyhow.

I think, from my understanding so far, is that the biggest gripe coming from Cats fans is the Friday night fixture, which for those who do travel from Geelong, is a tough ask after finishing work for the day.

Having said that, the notion of crowd size should probably be irrelevant, knowing that if any other non Melbourne team qualifies for a home final that it is played at their home ground.

Be interesting to see what happens in 2047 when Tasmania qualify for a home final.
Correct, although it's not quite as bad as when that happens against a Melbourne-based team. In that situation the "home" final becomes far easier to attend for our opposition.

That is an attitude that the AFL will never and should never have.

We want as many people as possible to be able to attend the game. Obviously that means more ticket sales but what is wrong with that? More money into the game.

It's a sporting competition
Fairness should be the number 1 priority

The game gets the overwhelming majority of its money from TV anyway. Best way to maximise that is by having more people watching from home. What's wrong with that? More money in the game

Geelong are not a Melbourne club. By my estimation 60% of members reside in Geelong and surrounding areas. Geelong also seems to be the club of choice for those living in rural/regional Victoria. Around 40% reside in metropolitan Melbourne. That's not taking into consideration members who live in other states, overseas or can't make it for health reasons.
So that means 0.60 * 90,000 = 54,000 members have to travel at least an hour (some as much as 2 hours) to get into Melbourne to watch their team play in the first week of finals. Probably getting back home as late as 2am on a Saturday morning.

That’s funny, yeah 40,000 not buying tickets and food at the venue but watching at home is worth more to the AFL 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I see starting at intelligent was too much for you

You don't think increased ratings arent worth an order of magnitude more when it comes to broadcast deals than a drop in revenue from finals hosted by only 4 teams.

My computer's tips:

Adelaide +20 v Collingwood
Geelong +18 v Brisbane
Fremantle +6 v Gold Coast
GWS +4 v Hawthorn

I note that all four fixtures are teams from different states. This last happened in 2003, and before that in 1999 with a different finals system.

Nice to see representation from all 4 states. Only 3 Vic clubs and 2 Melbourne clubs, I like that.

A similar mix to 2017, when five interstate teams played finals (2 from SA, 2 from NSW, none from Queensland) and Geelong accompanied two Melbourne teams. And Adelaide-Geelong finished 1-2.

The peak was 2003 when all six non-Victorian teams played finals.
