Re: Mitchell gets a headstart

Young Tom is on Fox Sports being interveiwed, with film of him training with the WA u/18's. Says he can't wait to join the Swans next year.
The dumb reporter said his dad played for Carlton and Sydney, which is true but i think he will be remembered more for being a Swan. Looks nothing like Barry , with a touch of Ranga in there. They say GWS offered a Million for him.

Got onto Fox Sports and found the video of this interview, click on it and get this message, 'Sorry, we're unable to offer this video to users in your region.' :thumbsd: Gee they make it frustrating trying to follow the AFL from overseas.

If someone's able to copy and post that video to Youtube, would be greatly appreciated.

I should be able to get someone to upload it on youtube if you want.

Edit: Some good news with the reporter mentioning he should be playing in the final few games for WA

Re: Mitchell gets a headstart

Not that it matters all that much since our first round pick probably isn't going to be until around pick 20 or so this year - but it's pretty much guaranteed we'll have to use that first round pick to get Mitchell, right? As I understand it there is a bidding process where another club says "we'll use our [insert round] pick for this guy" and if you want him as a father-son pick, you've got to match the round? If this was any other year maybe a club might not want to risk us calling their bluff, but with GWS having a million picks in the first round they are basically guaranteed to say "we'll pick him up round 1" and we'll have to match it.

I can't see Sheedy doing his new cross town rival a favour.

Like I said, it doesn't matter much anyway. But would Mitchell have gone early first round like they said a year ago after all his injuries?

GWS can't bid in the father/son selection process, but another club almost definitely will. He is not worth a top 3 selection which is what was being hyped up by a few people last year, but he is definitely worth a pick in the top 20.

Re: Mitchell gets a headstart

WA playing right now, no Mitchell :(

Re: Mitchell gets a headstart

Western Australia (U18)
Player Name K H D M HO T FF FA G B DT
1 Tom Mitchell 7 11 18 1 0 1 2 0 0 1 53

It's half time and Tom leads WA for disposals on 18, next place is Coniglio on 13.

Re: Mitchell gets a headstart

You guys have a beauty there in Tom Mitchell. In a heavily compromised draft too.

Pretty damn good effort by Tom to put in this performance after coming back from injury. I think its his first full game since coming back.

Would be a top 10 pick easily and you'll get him at 20 something.

27 poss halfway through the last.

Re: Mitchell gets a headstart

It's fulltime with WA going down by 50 points to Vic Country

Western Australia (U18)
Player Name K H D M HO T FF FA G B DT
1 Shane Nelson 17 18 35 5 0 2 0 1 0 0 107
2 Tom Mitchell 12 16 28 2 0 2 2 3 0 1 76

Re: Mitchell gets a headstart

28 disposals first game back!:thumbsu:

Yeah I think we'll be using our first round pick!:D

Re: Mitchell gets a headstart

Good, an attacking midfielder, alas they will change him into a boring in and under.

Ironic coming from you bedders? The only attacking midfielder we have at the moment isn't physical enough for you.

I really hope we see him play from Round One next year and just dominates.

When was the last time he got 28 possies

I thought you were taking a stab at the fact that McVeigh began his career as a tagger.

If you've noticed, I've been in your camp for a while now regarding McVeigh.

Re: Mitchell gets a headstart

Won't be a round one starter...but goddamn 2nd best afield after an extended layoff has me grinning

He seems to have more skill/work ethic/whatever than guys like Bird or Jetta did when they started in their first round at the club.
