He made a great Spoil Attempt in the Last Second just to put Pettard off a Bit and made him Drop the Ball.

Congrats Steele you saved the game

Yep, was very good yesterday, did some brilliant things in patches, but also went all day, including that last spoil.

Watched the replay again this morning, AND HOW BAD WAS HEATH SHAW, in the last 30 seocnds he was 40 metres away from Pettard for a good 20 seconds, before walking to the goal square and cleaning up his own mess after Steele saved his arse.

Quite possibly Heath's worse game ever, especially defensively.

The young blokes saved us yesterday, inlcuding Ben Reid, who made 2 vital spoils and clearances out of the backline in the last quarter.

We need to drop one of our 3 tall forwards (Cloke, Anthony or Fraser) but Reid and Leigh brown should stay in.

Agree with Reid he made a Good 1 on 1 Spoil in the Last 2 Minutes that was Impressive and then get the Ball Out.

And 20 Secs before steele was up the Ground and had to run back to save the day and Heaters ass who was just watching:rolleyes:

Wasn't Steele winning all the time trials over summer? He was the only one with the engine/desire to get back when it mattered. I have watched it a few times since, Petterd was all alone for a longgg time, and Steele had to come from a long way back (probably ran past a handful of spectating Magpies).

A week is a long time in football!

After the nab cup final, Dogs premiership favourites. We knock them off, we're the talk of the town. Almost lose to Melbourne, Saints destroy North, all focus back on the Saints. Steele worst on ground for us last week, this week close to best on and saved the game.

Just think, we have at least 20 more rounds of this to come.

Yeah and That how Hero's are Made

I've watched Heath play against Melb live a couple of times and to be I honest, I just don't think he has any respect for them what so ever. He plays loose all the time and trys to get the easy touches against them. He was one of our worst on grounds. Not taking away anything from Pettard but Heath was downright terrible.

last week everyone wrote steele off and predicted shaw/swan our saviors, come this week the roles are reversed with beams added in there. we finally have depth and thats why were in for a big chance this year. such talent and maturity for young players

Both our first and second draft picks played fine games.
We have a great future with kids like them in the team.

These two are the reason we won

It's true. Carlton cry over not having one midfielder and one backman out. We just replace them and it doesn't even flicker as an adjustment to the team

I'm looking forward to seeing the replay on One HD, because Sidebottom is one of those players who gets under the radar when watching live. That 2-on-1 on the Southern Stand wing when he passed it to Beams who hit up Jack was fantastic though.

When will it be on One HD when it was on Foxtel?

Thanks Dave, but with my internet connection that would take about 1.2 billion years. :D I'll just have to live without.

That was good but Reid was poor IMO all day besides that.
Got beat by Newton all day in marking and on the lead.
Id rather Brown down back if Presti doesn't get up.

N Brown would of done Worse as he was Terrible in the VFL in the Morning Game

Dont forget Dale Thomas in this. With about 20 seconds left, pushed back hard and made a spoil and got the clearing kick (all be it, straight to a Meblourne player).

I'm sorry, but Sidebottom didn't spoil anything. Petterd dropped a sitter. I don't even buy the putting him off thing, it was a simple mark, Sidebottom completely missed. We didn't deserve to win that.

Totally Disagree - Okay Steele did not Spoil him but if Pettard was there by Himself, it would been a Easy Mark and Goal

Two things about that don't make sense to me.

Steele by just being in the contest put pressure on Pettard, I think coaches call it inferred pressure.
Secondly since when does a team not deserve to win a game they actually won. If Melbourne were as good as I think you are saying they are, how come they caved in during the last quarter and let us back into the contest.
