This was the most grating part.
It’s ok for 1 person to get something horribly wrong but to have puppets clap along grinds my gears.

So I guess if (for example) the 2 SA teams finished in the same bracket (odds or evens), we could get 3 showdowns in a season (and maybe more if they both qualified for finals)? How is that supposed to be better for “fixture fairness” or it’s just all about the money again?

Unfair on the bottom 2 who have busted their guts all year for no reward
Imagine being WCE. Tank all year to get pick 1 and (their dream) pick 2 for Allen. But you end up in some sort of stupid round robin finals series where you freakishly win against the 9th placed team and even getting belted the next week you end up 15th and only get picks 4 and 5 having had the worst H&A season since GWS in 2012.
Reeks of everyone gets a prize.
If I am interpreting what Eddie said correctly after 21 rounds only the bottom 2 would drop out and the top 4 would get a bye in what is essentially 2 weeks of knockout qualifications followed by 4 weeks of finals as they are now. So on todays ladder only the Eagles and Kangaroos drop out and the Bombers, Tigers, Blues etc would essentially have qualified for finals.
Absolutely despise it, it rewards mediocrity.
Not surprisingly the other members on the panel loved it.

So last year we could tune in round 18 just make sure our sides won the 3 games to get out of the bottom 2. Excitement aplenty though
