Absolute first world problem but always wondered why half the teams get full names and others don’t
Probably to remind you that Sydney used to be South Melbourne and the Fitzroy connection with Brisbane.
‘case you forget :p

But I don’t like it either.

No mascots on the scoreboard is better and that includes Western.

“in his wheelhouse” - why did this just start appearing everywhere? Is this a commentator’s word bingo bet from the pre season?

“Plying his craft”

“Inside the four walls”

Dwayne Russell. "I hope you're enjoying this from wherever you're watching this on the planet!".

Australia Dwayne. We are watching it in Australia you stupid ****.

This one is actually fair, there are many Aussies who go on holidays but still watch AFL matches.

1. “The big dance” - in reference to the Grand Final.

2. “D50” - why and when did all the commentators and special comments people start saying this? Annoying as hell.

3. Literally all of Dwayne Russell’s isms - “From the paint”, “gold class” etc

4. “Superb human being” - Andy Maher and Luke Darcy love this one. Drives me mental.

"the teeth of goal"

Can't believe this one hasn't been said yet. I'm not sure I'd ever heard this used prior to this season and now I feel like I'm hearing it most matches from various commentators. To the point now I suspect it's an industry in joke and there's a prize to which ever commentator can notch up the most uses of the phrase.

"Has it got the journey?" when talking about distance kicked

"Got the wheels" just say 'fast' you ****stick

"Spies up" instead of "sees" or "passes to"

"Champion" = had a few good games

"Absolute champion/ legend" = had a good season or two

"the best X the game has seen" = reasonably good at one aspect of the game in the last few years

"He/they were MIGHTY"
mighty what Caro? Good? Disappointing? Consistent?

'The ability to...'
I've noticed new commentators say this a lot - Tom Hawkins and Jack Reiwoldt, in particular. (Both I quite like as commentators)

4. “Superb human being” - Andy Maher and Luke Darcy love this one. Drives me mental.

****ing Darcy loves this shit. Christ he’s a w***er.

I think the big issue with Darcy is during the day, he’s one of those most useless of dickheads: a management consultant. Trying to flatter people is his natural fallback as he has nothing else to say and just tells people they’re great in order to get them to pay him.

Says a lot of words while saying nothing at all.

Have a read of this site. Some of the most incredible and utter shite you’ll ever have the misfortune to consume.

Not that you hear it often, and in fact I don't think I've ever heard it in the context of footy, but I hate it when people say "no man is an island". Really? What about this guy?
