Is a genuine midfield stopper/tagger. Bannister always does a job but generally not on a midfielder. just watching black and jonstone tear us up last night we had no options to stop them. all the good side of the last 5 years have good taggers.

WHat are our options and do we lack in this area?

I think perhaps russle. If he had someone leading him to the ball he might learn a thing or 3. definately has the application and speed.

thoughts?

Russell is struggling enough without us switching his position on a week to week basis. Leave him in his current role.

Bannister is our tagger.

Hadley was tried last night but Black killed him.

Out of our 22 last night, Browne is the only one that may be worth trying. Played on Johnstone last night and was murdered but it's his 3rd game so we shouldn't look too far into that. None of our other players from last night should be considered for that role.

Guys like Jackson, Anderson, Armfield might be able to in the future.

A CHF and a CHB thats what we lack

what we are lacking the most is a CHF and a CHB/FB. as good as waite might be, he will struggle with the big forwards ie. Brown, as they completely outmuscle him. i know you will struggle to find someone who is as big as brown, but someone who will restrict him to 3 goals instead of the 6 or however many he kicked last night. with jamo, thornton and bower down back, we should be able to hold most other types offorwards but none have the stregth to take on the monsters.

as for the CHF, how are we to win a flag with fev the only person who is able to kick goals. the way i see it, wiggins will never be good enough at CHF, and (althought i dont know much about him) i dont believe hearts is good enough to play CHF at AFL, i see him more as a depth player to come and and stretch a teams backline, or to replace the CHF when injured. you might not agree with the assesment of the players, but im sure most would agree that these are what we really lack!

i agree. last year when we played brisbane in melbourne, jackson got given the job as that tagger and has done well in the past. i dont know when he'll be back but he sure would be handy

up front we need another forward to be accountable so that fev doesnt have two players on him everyweek but apart from that the talent and youth is there :thumbsu:

He did a job on R.Harvey In his first game i think. he is an option. dont need a tagger for freo i wouldnt think.

we lack a CHF, CHB, a small defender, 3-4 speedy tough nuts who can tackle and beat opponents.

A CHF and a ruckman that can at least break even with his opponent. I believe that when Hadley gets some fitness back, he could be used as a tagger, as can Banno, when he comes back from injury.

This is what happens when the president of a football club decides who is drafted/traded. Pratt wanted Judd cos hes one of the best mids going around. Guess he didnt care if Cartlon traded away one of the most promising CHF's going around - Josh Kennedy.

I thought Bentick looked pretty good in the centre - he certainly negated a lot of Black's influence earlier on.

 Black had 12 touches in the first qtr....

But i dont mind bentick. he is quicker than hadlee. I cant see why we cant have them both in. Hadlee can provide an option up forward. as well as playing in the middle. When he played in the 2's in qld he played alot at chf. Not saying he can in the big league but he is a chance to snare the odd 1.
