Well when you get arrested, you aren't automatically thrown in the slammer, unless you've knocked someone off. His trial(s) or sentencing would be in a few months most likely. If he's got a good enough lawyer, he could probably get community service, as he's "a role model to the community", like the AFL players before him that have escaped harsher penalties.

Hawthorn was unable to rehabilitate a wayward kid called Gary Ablett.

Carlton has a responsibily to develop Angwin as a player and as a person. Whether Pagan has it in him, I don't know. He has a history of sacking those who don't fit the mold. God knows they can't afford to lose any more talent.

Richmond have a few. Didnt young mills stack while drunk and ran from the scene. and the other who decked a copper. dont forget blumfield

His nmay be a llittle on the serious side, being young he can be fixed to become a good citizen 1st and footy player second

While I think Angwins actions, especially stealing from a teamate, are pretty bad, he's quite young yet and he has plenty of time to sort out his personal problems.
If I was in charge at Carlton, I'd seriously be adopting a "three strikes and you're out" kind of deal. He's already stolen from Karl Norman, so one more negative action would force him onto the VFL list, and a second would see him fired or delisted ASAP.
Carlton have enough negative publicity at the moment, they really don't need to be seen to be accepting or tolerating players who do stuff like this, no matter how good thet are.
They must be seen to actively be helpjng Angwin thorough his problem and punishing him for any future crimes he may commit, or run the risk of further embaressing and drawing scorn to a club pretty much already on overload.
Thats my view, anyway.

Angwin being good for Carlton or any team is a pipe dream....a Farking PIPE DREAM...Wake up people....the odds of turning a bad egg like this piece of crap is 100 to 1...only a fool would risk the damage he could do to a Club....The AFL comp is not a place where any professional club would have him on their books...sure he needs help and rehabilitation...but not at this level....its greed, pure and simple, greed for success that has him still on the Blues books....lessons need to be learned still at Carlton and life will ensure they learn them the hard way.

I've only seen him play once, in R22, and if I didn't know all the other stuff I'd say Carlton have an absolute star of the (near) future on their hands.

From every point of view, they should do whatever they can to try to support him and get him through whatever issues he clearly has got. If he continues to stuff up with teammates it will be beyond anything the club can do, but - as a human being he deserves the chance, and for his potential contribution as a footballer Carlton would/should be giving him that chance. Not to mention their well-known philanthropic ideals...

I think Carlton are so hard up for talent at the moment that if their priority draft pick next year set fire to the Optus grandstand you'd have Col Kinnear standing there in burnt clothing saying "we don't intend to cut the lad adrift, we have a responsibility to make him a better person...."

Lets face it if you have real talent and get on a struggling club's list these days you can basically do whatever you want and not be turfed out.
