Backline. All we need is for him to get back to his AA form.

Half Forward Flank playing as a lead-up player. Has a good pair of Hands and would be a dangerous player.
Either that or on a wing, he could be a very dangerous player for us there.
McP not the same species as Wellie. Did you ever see Wellie miss a target?
Maybe with the promised preseason skills emphasis, I'll permit McP to lick Wellie's books. Maybe.
its hard to miss a bloke who is standing 15 metres away. i never saw wellman take a long kick his entire time at essendon. in fact he'd probably be a superstar in this age of short kick to a loose man football.
don't get me wrong, i loved wellie, but lets not get carried away suggesting he was one of the great exponents of passing the ball by foot. he was good (note good, not great) over 15 - 30 metres which is hardly damaging to the opposition.

In the mirror.
If thats no good let him be doorman to the rooms where he can push and shove all he likes and not cost the team.
After that I think wing or forward line to see what he can do. He is a bit loose for down back and his decision making under the pump is questionabble.
That opinion may change if he gets a bit more time next year mateFunny, all this discussion confirms what i've thought all along. He's just not that good and doesn't really have a position that suites him.
Back he's not tight enough and makes poor decisions / turns ball over
Mid he's not tight enough, makes poor decisions / turns the ball over
forward - he aint a forwards arse...
Should have traded him!
