McPhee is a very good player off half back, but it would be nice to see him in the midfield every once in a while.

We must give him a shot in the midfield otherwise we could be just wasting his unknown talent.

Not saying he's not talented enough.

He seems to be lacking confidence with his kicking, but I'd love to see him play roaming from a forward pocket to a half forward flank, he can take a great mark and would be very dangerous, especially when deep in the forward line.
At least when taking a mark deep in the forward line he can go back, compose himself and have a shot for goal rather than have the pressure of hitting a target in defence.

mcphee broke down when they got to him to build up for a key position such as CHB - his groin couldn't handle the extra weight bearing. since he has slimmed back down he is coming back into form and he is clearing best suited off half back or the wing.

McP not the same species as Wellie. Did you ever see Wellie miss a target?

Maybe with the promised preseason skills emphasis, I'll permit McP to lick Wellie's books. Maybe.

its hard to miss a bloke who is standing 15 metres away. i never saw wellman take a long kick his entire time at essendon. in fact he'd probably be a superstar in this age of short kick to a loose man football.

don't get me wrong, i loved wellie, but lets not get carried away suggesting he was one of the great exponents of passing the ball by foot. he was good (note good, not great) over 15 - 30 metres which is hardly damaging to the opposition.

Fair call. To be honest I never noticed his kick-shortness.

Good call!! I'm surprised people are bagging out McPhee. The guy was in awesome form before OP kicked in and he is started to get back into some good form.

At least he could hit the target over that distance. Mcphee can't even do that.

Should have traded him.

In the mirror.

If thats no good let him be doorman to the rooms where he can push and shove all he likes and not cost the team.

After that I think wing or forward line to see what he can do. He is a bit loose for down back and his decision making under the pump is questionabble.

You say questionable, I'd say pathetic for someone who's suposed to be AA

Hoping he can play on a forward flank and become a Ryan O'Keefe type for us.

Has got the endurance, is a good mark and seems to make much better decisions whilst up forward.

Should we turn into a premiership contender by 2010 I think he should then be moved back to the backline to provide that run. That probably also depends on his kicking and general decision making whilst running out of the backline.

either half back or half forward. i think he isnt accountable enough to play in the midfield and gets hurt by his opponent. we know he can play a great attacking game of half back when firing and that is what we need.

is also capable of playing chb aswell imo as he has done it before in the past and gone ok. played well on riewoldt a few times.

is also capable of being a very dangerous half forward. he could actually be the lead up center half forward, a get out player coming out of defence and that would enable scotty to play closer to goal across the 50m arc.

Funny, all this discussion confirms what i've thought all along. He's just not that good and doesn't really have a position that suites him.

Back he's not tight enough and makes poor decisions / turns ball over
Mid he's not tight enough, makes poor decisions / turns the ball over
forward - he aint a forwards arse...

Should have traded him!

That opinion may change if he gets a bit more time next year mate

He has actually performed quite well in the limited time he has spent as a forward.

I would have also been happy to trade him for the right deal, but he still has plenty of value to the team, but granted he does have some defincies
