For probably a few players really.
On the basis that Tarrant and Solly will play, and i'm assuming as forwards, Pav will play, Farmer will play, then where to for JLo? Murphy? can we have both?
DJ. Is he under pressure to retain a spot given that most punters were a bit disappointed with his finals.
And where to for Haze given that IP's observations, well comments at least, indicate that he is along way from fitness. Is he destined for a pensioner's spot in the forward line.
One assumes Macca, Cookie and Parker will be running through brick walls to get a game (not that anything has changed there). Macca and Cookie might be looking forward.
Schammer, Drum, Dunn - gawd
There's not many crumbs left in the midfield, especially if the club are looking to push MJ up there as well.
Jeez, it's going to be hard just getting a kick at training......

I think we should aim Dunn at 20 decent games for East Freo before we start worrying abut him getting an AFL spot.

I've been posting on the Internet since 2001. One of the phenomenon's that you notice is the rise and fall of players as they go from untried to debut, to they can do a few useful things, and on to 'gee they make a few mistakes as well', and maybe they're not that good, and we should try someone else. Basically, players have a honeymoon, and then measure up or don't.

Really, players form changes from week to week. Tiger Woods loses more often than he wins. Its the consistency that coaches are looking for in the 80% of players who are not stars. Dessie is pretty consistent. In those last 12 gams, as we started to generate clearances, he showed how valuable he can be. Conversley, in that final against Sydney he laid 6 tackles. You don't do that if you're uninvolved.

I think Drum, and particularly Dunn, have a long way to go to win a regular spot.

JLo has to play, you need 2 ruckmen. Hopefully he can get his knees right and we see the best of Justin next year.

Hasleby was never expected to train until the new year, so hopefully he can keep his fitness up until his body lets him resume full training.

I'd be disappointed if Murphy doesn't play. Recruiting Tarrant will be a waste of time if Pav, Murphy and Tarrant can't work together. If Murphy spends most of next year at south Freo he will probably ask to be traded home, and IMO he'll be better than Tarrant within 2 years.

I expect Schammer to play round one, and Drum will probably be in the 25. Headland will play round one but he will have to start the season well after a woeful finals campaign.

Drum will be bashing the door down for a spot. His last game in the WAFL was something like 25 possessions and 10 marks. With a full preseason under his belt he'll be close to selection.

Its the regulars we've come acustomed to being selected every week that'll be under pressure. For instance, who thought Walker would be out of the team in 2006, similarly who thought McManus would get 9 brownlow votes.

The best 22 will change, and competition is healthy.

While Wallace creates a point system, Fremantle players will just look each other in the eye, determined to secure their spot for 07.

Realistically it is going to be hard to get into the best 22.

I am not sure that Solomon is automatically there though (the forward line). Cretainly not at the expense of Murphy or Longmuir.

The three elder statesman may not play as much as they like. As happened this season, they will be required to earn their spots with consistant form and tough physical play, which will up the ante for the younger fellas. It's all good.
