Found a whitetail in my bed a few nights ago

Took me a couple of hours to hunt it down and kill it

No way i was sleeping with that thing in my room

Nah hes a recluse, he never leaves his web. Huntsmen i must kill straight away cos i woke up to one in my bed once. Not a nice way to wake up
 
Shite, I could live with that spider maybe if it were outside, but not in my flipping bedroom!

We had a similar kind of spider outside, was there for probs 18 months, fair beast. Claimed him as a pet too cos he never came too far out of his web. Sure he killed plenty of mossies and flies in his time.

Then one day he just disappeared. :(
 
Could have had a potential run in with a redback.

Company i work for had a factory they rented out just around the corner, well we decided not to re-new the lease and i was around there helping cleaning the place out.

There was a door at the back of the factory which had a steel barricade sort of thing running along it to prevent break-ins etc... Well i kid you not i was the motion of reaching for it to lift the steel rod off when i thought, "Hang on, i'll check for spiders."

And sure enough there was a redback sitting under this steel rod right where i was about to put my hand.

Can't really believe i actually thought to check for spiders at the last second on something like trhat. It's really an action you just go for without giving much of a thought. Not like i was about to put on a shoe after leaving it outside for the night!

Spiders facinate me.

When I was 16 I remember sitting at a bus stop with my arms along the back rest.

Felt something crawl on my hand, a nice big red back. Stared at it for like 5 loong seconds, then shook it off.

I reckon he was just saying G'day.

Side not, I almost walked into this thing in the driveway a few weeks ago, took a photo of it, amazing colours.

Reading the descriptions of taste and consistency on Wikipedia gives me shivers.

I was reading the entire thread and kept singing this in my head then came across this, cant beleive someone posted it :)
 
Went through the majority of this thread, those high res pictures made my breathing difficult and i felt like a shock state come over me. I'm not scared enough to be arachnophobic i don't think though

Was building a cubby at my grandmas place a few years back, she lives in Carrajung Lower which is about a halfan hour drive from Traralgon.
Picked up a rock in the middle of the cubby, it was next to some tree roots in the dirt and dust, moved it and moved some dirt with a stick and a redback ran right next to my shoe. Was Horrible

Another time was during summer, went into my dads shed to get out the toolbox and opened the door, turned to my left and saw a big bodied black and tanned coloured spider just sitting there about 10 cm from my face.
I said yelled SHIT and ran out the shed
I literally had my hands on my knees in the middle of the backyard having trouble breathing and I came to tears and couldnt help but make weird "ergh ah eh" noises like I was having some kind of panic attack

Few summers before that was some huge huntsman on the top of the back fence, biggest I've ever seen and it scared the shit out of me, threw a cricket ball up in the air and smacked it with the bat and hit the spider.

I felt like I was cruel but I felt as though I couldnt stay in my own backyard anymore.

Oh by the way, when I was typing out the story of the spider in my shed my laptop beeped and I jumped off the couch and fell on the floor :)
