Hillarious.
People that kill spiders because theyre scared of them are useless.
Same sort of people that beat up women, only fight men physically weaker than them, and rape children.
All lumped into the 'Bitch' stereotype in my eyes.
Its not about being a 'hard ****' its about being in control of your fears and knowing that ur a million times bigger than this tiny little creature.
Don't threaten its home or life and it won't bite you.
It's us or them
That's quite a simplistic way of looking at things, and in most cases it is not even true.
Personally, if an animal was threatening me I would kill it. But I'm not one to kill just out of fear alone. And I'm a guy who is not very fond of spiders either... I used to have severe arachnophobia but once a friend of mine caught a huntsman. He insisted that he put it on my arm, even though I was freaked out by the prospect. So... he did. For some inexplicable reason, my fear wasn't there. Maybe deep back in my mind there was that fear of being bitten, but it did not radiate out as it once did.
Funnily enough, this same friend was petrified of rats until I showed him my pet ones. He turned out liking them, well, them specifically I suppose. A large chunk of the population get a little too paranoid with some of their fears, especially when it comes to animals. Most are harmless on their own, but some can get into certain situations where they present a potential danger either directly or indirectly. Would said paranoia be justified in those situations? Depends on how hysterical the person is.

Aint that the truth.I'm a simplistic person
Aint that the truth.
Illogical paranoias of animals/insects/invertabrates shit me to tears.
Kill, kill, kill is the general unthinking response.
It illustrates perfectly mans total disconnection with nature.
Hate to break it to you but death, killing and being killed are perfectly natural and nature relies on all of those things

*sigh* I'm an ecologist, ok!
Yes in the natural ecological world you are, indeed correct.
However you are not part of that life chain/food cycle.
You are just a whiny little bitch that is scared of creepy crawlies, and your default emotion is to kill.
Hate to break that to you prinny.![]()
Clearly if i step on a spider with the sole purpose of consigning it to oblivion, i am part of that "life chain/food cycle" whatever the **** that is.
I am an APEX PREDATOR.
APEX
PREDATOR
DEAL WITH IT

Irrational fear is a learned behaviour.
Evolution has nothing to do with it at all.

It is logical - spiders can kill humans, and they can do it stealthily.

Not only do I kill them, but I enjoy it. I have been known to kill two of a group of 3 and leave one alive, bartering that his life has been saved on the understanding he will pass on the horrors of the murders to other spiders.

So this spider was actively hunting you, was it?
I better watch my back then as those redbacks in the meter box are surely plotting my demise.
You idiot, you were in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Nothing more, nothing less.
In my bed, at night ?
You're a nasty piece of work, i would appreciate it if you stayed out of our otherwise civil spider thread.
I shall hunt and destroy 3 spiders tonight just to spite you, and nature, and your god.
You know what they say about people who enjoy torturing and killing small animals?
PEDOPHILES!!!
BRING IN AN INTERNET FILTER!!
I wouldn't consider that a predatory action at all. Were you to actively hunt and devour the spider, then yes, you'd have a point. But in a natural setting animals kill other animals to eat.
They also may kill to survive, if being attacked or if they're threatened.
