Fact remains that Croad tore Whitnall a new one and kicked 5 goals on him in a half of footy, i actually felt for Whitnall walking off the ground at half time with his head down and that dejected look on his face, he realised his pathetic performance had lost the game for Carlton. :)

What an absoulute thrashing.
A 20 year old veteran of 30 odd games, Walker, then tore Croad a new one you may have noticed (2nd hole down from the back of his neck).

This makes Walker a better player than Croad following your logic?

You people are deluded. I watched Croad PLAY on Whitnall early last season. Carved Big Red up like I've rarely seen anyone do. Make him look slow, old, third rate and quite simply pathetic. Pagan moved him off Croady quick smart. Croady was hampered in the last half of last by wrist and other injuries. He'll come back hard in '07. Even before that game, I woulda said Croad, but after that, I'd pick Croad about 8,000 times before Red once.....

Reverse the roles and put Lance at CHF and Croad at CHB. Different story.

Can someone explain to me this myth about Whitnall being a smart player?

Let's not forget that Thomas Murphy, a second year player at Hawthorn, outplayed Whitnall in round 19 this year as well.

Kicked 4 goals and grabbed 8 marks in a QUARTER on Whitnall.

However Whitnall was moved forward and dominated.

Strange circumstances that day. I think both ended up with 18 marks and 5 goals or something.

Maybe someone can explain to me how you're not smart to to work out that he is a smart player.

I'd like to see your definition of dominated

It goes along the same lines as Hawthorn supporters being dumb.

That's just terrible.

Whitnall had a good season last year, but Croad wasn't given his usual opportunities to shine at CHB given the way he was rotated between the forward line and backline (occasionally to positions he isn't accustomed to like FB).

Whitnall would have to be the smarter footballer, but with a tad of bias, i'd have to go with Croady.

..., i'd have to go with Croady.

I really hope Croad has a long career at the Hawks. Fev rates Croad as his second most favourite fullback, just after Glass. He seems to make both look like complete basket cases on a regular basis. I guess you could try Zac Dawson on Fev next time - although that would require a very very brave coach. :)

Whitnall easy.

Wish the dogs picked this guy up when he was on offer. Absolute star. Love watching him play

Lance would have done extremely well at the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs wealth of midsized running players with excellent footskills, would have suited Lance's game perfectly i.e. outsmarting and out-positioning his opponents and executing setup plays. Lance is a natural CHF, but is currently playing at CHB, basically because the Blues currently have a lot of quality KP forwards. One of Lances best games last year was when he played on Barry Hall. Hall was so used to having direct physical contests as the ball headed into the forward 50. Lance just backed his superior ability to read the flight of ball and anticipate the unfolding of a play faster than anyone else, and continually outplayed Barry, who just dummy spat repeatedly. If was more a battle between 2 KP forwards rather than a KP forward V KP defender. :)

yeah he would have fitted well into the bulldogs team. He reads the play like a book.

Parrott- as for you saying Cartlon have a lot of quality KP forwards. I would think about rephasing that to "potential" quality KP forwards. There arent many players on your list worthy of a game elsewhere.

I honestly cant beleive that this thread has gone for 3 pages.

Lance on a bad day by the length of the Hume....

The Blues have the most talented KP forwards in the AFL - easily, it just ain't close. i.e. Fev, Waite, Fisher and Kennedy. Our problem has been getting consistent, quality delivery. Murph and Gibbs in the middle should help things in that regard over the next few years. BTW do the Bulldogs have any KP forwards? I watched that Subi final - whenever the ball entered the Bulldogs forward 50, there was just a midsized player slugging it out with a KP defender. Was a bit sad, and was the reason you lost. :)

Add smalls, Betts and Lappin/Stevo, supply from a midfield that will make the Eagles 2006 and Brisbanes 2002 - 2004 midfields look pretty ordinary and the recipe is there for longterm, sustained success.
I would suggest the Bulldogs will struggle to improve on last season without any KP forwards, thus a slow and steady decline over the next 5 - 7 years for mine.....

I'm reluctant to make too many predictions about our midfield, but there really is a lot of top-shelf talent there, and has the potential to easily surpass anything out there at the moment. Our midfield group are badly inexperienced though - will take 2-3 years before they peak. Having a wealth of KP targets will help though. :)

disillusioned carlton supporters.

you guys are kidding right?

Fev- Quality
Waite- Athletic, cant mark
Fisher- undecided
Kennedy- Still Young
Betts- Plays 3 good games a year
Lappin- Consistent, can lose interest though
Stevo- Not a top-tier midfielder
Murph and Gibbs- Kids, nothing is for sure.

Guys, I admit to being a little bias towards the dogs at time, but im also in-touch with reality too. To say your midfield will be better that the eagles of 2006, Brisbane's of 2002-2004 is taking it a little to far. Pull you heads in and look where Carlton are now. You do not have the most talented KP forwards in the league. You do not have a pavlich, a john brown or players anywhere near that class. You coach is bleeding your club dry of cash, your board are fighting like little bitches, nothing is going right at the moment. Further, your list isnt a major threat to anyone. Yes, you can hold high hopes going forward but keep it in perspective ok. Your not the only team that gets to participate in the draft.
