"I struggle to see Swan, H Shaw, Yakka, making it"

I thought Heath was fantastic, showed heaps, ball magnet that can take a mark overhead and hit a target, no slouch in the speed department either

But the good thing about those three is they are either improving or (in the case of Yakka) got lots of room to improve.

Fev is a one position player.

A good kid could do that job and others.

Heath had a rough start, the AFL pace got to him. But the signs are all good. He is an intense player with strength and pace and will add an attacking dimention to the backline next year when he really settles in.
The signs are all good? Average paced, average disposal plodder with average decision making is what he looks like to me. He might have some ability which could develop but won't ever be a top line player. He’s been on the list 2 years. Happy to give him another year but he certainly has to show some improvement in every aspect at this stage to be worthy of an AFL list spot. We aren’t trying to provide life opportunities for ex player’s sons, we are trying to win premierships – at least that’s what we are supposed to be doing.

A lot of people said the same thing when he was playing for Willy, said he would never play seniors, this kid will continue to confound the "experts"

How many players do we have on our list that are at least average in every category?

Also, I think people are underrating his speed. Just because his running action looks dodgy, that doesn't make him slow.

Everyone wants Brennan Mills around 3rd-4th round, Richmond want him to as well as about 6 other clubs but it seems that WCE want him more than most. WCE will risk there 1st pick in the national draft and take Mills despite his broken leg and previous injuries. For what its worth you guys should hope Carlton passes on Murphy but if not you should be happy with Ellis and Hurn.

37. one of the above if still left or Grae Grant for sheer pace and athleticism from his basketball (Ellis, Varcoe and Grant have all attended the AIS-Academy together and may have some added bond as a mid-team because of that?)

.

Good thinking. Grant is gonna slip under the radar a bit because of injury. And from what i remember, i think he is a huge Collingwood supporter!

HAd some poor form at the start of the year but still a huge prospect!

Another one who could suprise is Michael West. OK, truth be told, i've only seen him play once................but jesus, it was one of the most domniating performences at under 18 level i have ever seen. 13 goals for god sake! Unreal!
Then he did his knee...............which i felt just watching from the sidelines! Poor kid!

Could play ruck around the grounds too!

This is what I hope the club does come trade time this will inject some new talent and get rid of inconsistant and average players.

1.Trade Lonie to Hawks for pick 22.
2.Trade O'bree to carlton for pick 20.
3.Trade Woewodin and Walker to Fremantle for pick 10.
4.Trade pick 21,22 to Geelong for Bartel.
5.Trade pick 20 to Port for Salopek.

This would leave us with:

Pick 2, X.Ellis
Pick 5, S.Hurn
Pick 10, N.Jones / Best KPP available
Pick 37, Best available KPP
Pick 53, Promote H.O'Brien
Pick 69, Promote B.Davies

PSD: Best available player hopefully convince B.Murphy (WB) to enter

Plus the 2 trades: J.Bartel , S.Salopek.

This would quickly change the face of our midfeild and team.

We don't urgently need a Key back as MM wants to put T.Cloke back there and Presti has 3 yrs left the only 1 who will retire soon is Wakes which we have a few options for already.

If available (in order):

-Murphy
-Ellis
-Hurn
-Dowler
-Kennedy
-Varcoe.

I'm hoping we can nab Essendon's pick 7, giving us a shot at at least one of these players.

Now just sit back and look at your post for a minute. You've agreed that these players are inconsistent and/or average players (which is already pretty flattering), yet you think club will trade away 1'st and 2'nd round picks for them? The facts are, these player are fringe AFL players and struggled for game time in the 15'th placed side. Other clubs are not going to give away their picks for hacks. All I can see anyone offering for any of those 3 is a 5'th (4'th if you're very lucky) rounder or a similar hack player which is what often happens. E.g. Lonie (Haw) straight swap for Lonie (Coll) would be pretty fair. Ask for anyone else and you're kidding yourself.

Might happen if we're a bit lucky.
2.Trade O'bree to carlton for pick 20.
Again we'd be lucky, and I'd like to keep him for depth or trade for a younger player.

3.Trade Woewodin and Walker to Fremantle for pick 10.
Unless Freo have another brain freeze come trading time this ain't gonna happen!

4.Trade pick 21,22 to Geelong for Bartel.
Not a chance!

5.Trade pick 20 to Port for Salopek.
Small chance at best.

I like your idea of dumping a few players for picks but some of those trades aren't going to happen. It is stupid to suggest we will get Bartel, Salopek, #10 for Woey, Walker, O'Bree and Lonie and #21.

id love to think we could get 10 for walker and woey but would never happen like ure thinking though
