I should start by saying I'm using a wider definition of the word elite, so it's not just the top 5 players in the league.
If a player is one of the best in the league in their position/s, then using my definition they're elite. Cox, Sandi and Mumford are elite rucks for example.
On to the point of the thread, which player or players do you see becoming genuine stars of your club in the near future? I would nominate Reid, Rohan and Jack (injuries permitting) to really go up to that top level and to a lesser extent Lamb and Mitchell if he lives up to the hype.
Looks like my own clubs supporters are guilty of it too.
Honestly, the term "Elite" should be used IMO, for those who are in the Top 3 of their position in the league.
It's bandied about way too easily, sure the guys above may all develop into very good long term players but I could only see the first 4 fitting the criteria I outlined.
So we basically agree, and given there are about 6 or so key positions on the field then that would be 18 elite players. 18 out of 600+, that fits in with the dictionary definition of elite if you want to get technical.
Stop policing how people use the word elite mate
In all seriousness you're right and it's a major bugbear of mine, but it IS BF afterall...
Yet you failed to produce what you think is the "definitive" meaning of the word, despite being the first to get on your high horse about it. You're not above everyone on this site like you seem to believe you are.
It doesn't seem to me that many people are just listing every young player, some might be stretching their optimism a little but that's the minority.
