I believe it's between 3 players, and luckily they are all young.

1. Scott Thompson
2. Jason Porplyzia
3. Nathan Bock

Players like McLeod, Goodwin and Edwards wouldn't get any interest from any other club if they were up for grabs considering their age,
So who on our team do you rekon is the most untouchable player?

PORRRRPPPPPPPPPLLLYZZZZZZZIIIIIIIIIAAAAAAAAA better not go anywhere.

I really think vanBerlo should be our most untouchable player, only young and is easily one of our best midfielders.

Some if not all will disagree with me but my top 3 most untouchable crow’s players are:

3) Patrick Dangerfield
2) Jason Porplyzia
1) Taylor Walker –

Now i realize 2 out of the 3 on my list have basically done sweet **** all yet but in my opinion they are the 3 player we can least afford to lose. Potentially they offer so much and as most things are a gamble if they reach their optimum level of potential all 3 could be superstars. The other players who may have been mentioned are at the top or very close to playing their best football now and none of them are outright superstars. If we lost Bock, Thompson or Rutten we may see instant negative results but its nothing compared to how much we may lose if Walker, Porplyzia or Dangerfield reach the top of their game at another club.

If i was in charge of recruiting for the GC – Taylor Walker would be my number 1 priority from Adelaide.

I'd say Bock first, for obvious reasons, he is currently the best player at the Club.

Then Porplyzia because he just oozes class, is very skilled, talented and unique.

Edit: ^ Taylor Walker, didn't think of that one, but would probably be a fair inclusion. He just seems to be such a natural footballer and given what he has shown at only the age of 18 and in his first year of the SANFL, the signs are promising. Plus, he is the type of player we badly need.

...
100% agree.

Bock and Walker.

Nathan bock, well needs no further explanation.

Walker, the kids bleeds goal kicking talent which is something we've needed for years now, comes from here and won't be let off easily.

At the moment I'd say Nathan Bock is by far our most untouchable player, he would be up there in the top 3 key defenders in the league and over the next 5 or so years will be the General in our backline.

Porplyzia I guess would have to be second, just has that real Rolls-Royce feel about him that was akin to the Jarmans or Greg Williams when they were at their prime. Can't wait to see him spend more time in the midfield and is our only true game-breaker at the moment, which puts him right up there.

After this its a bit of a toss up, Tippet and Walker, as both look to have the potential to become the gun KPFs we've been crying out for, Dangerfield I like as well, has the strength and breakaway speed around stoppages which make Chris Judd such a damaging midfielder, if he can work on his disposal, we have a gun on our hands, by the sounds can also go forward and play a KP role at a pinch, something which some of the real top class midfielders can do (think Roo, Voss, Hird, Judd). Perhaps also Mackay, looks to be another real smooth mover with top class disposal.

Rutten has slipped a bit with the emergence of Bock, he just seems to be a little limited in that he's not the tallest KPD and hence struggles on resting ruckman and isnt the fastest and so can be caught out on the lead if the disposal is perfect, still in the top 3-5 full backs, perhaps not quite as unreplaceable as he was a year or so ago.

Thompson is a very good inside mid, who applies some great defensive pressure and is probably our best full-time mid, IMO the one thing he lacks though is a real hurt factor with his disposals, his outside game leaves a bit to be desired and he tends to go missing when he's needed most. Superb player and maybe I'm being a little harsh, just has a couple of things to work on IMO, before he becomes one of the true "elite" mids in the comp.

In terms of ratings I'd go (3-5 very close however):
1. Bock
2. Porplyzia
3. Tippet
4. Dangerfield
5. Walker

Mad Dog?

Alright it's not funny anymore...................well.....:D

5. Bock
4. Porplyzia
3. Walker
2. Dangerfield
1. Tippett

From an outsiders POV it'll be hard to go past bock and/or thompson. If things go to plan over the next couple of seasons, then walker and dangerfield would top the list IMO.

[1]Thompson. He is our only elite mid.

[2]VB. Has potential to get there.

[3]Walker. Loves the club and has potential to be a star.

[4]Porps. Borderline elite, a game breaker

[5]Moran. Versatile, (although IMO a natural forward as he leads for the ball) recent pick up and could be the best pick up since Jars. If it between him and Tip to go to GC I would tell Tip to pack his bags.

[6]Maric. Best young Ruck in the comp. Fires the team up as well. Breaks the "Crowbot" mould.

[7]Bock. Oldest player of this group. Our best defender.

[8] Mackay. Will be elite.

These are the players our clubs future depends on. A good mix of players, not all mids.

Have not included Dangerfield as I am unsure as to whether he has the desire to be at the Crows long term. Saw him live against the Saints and although looked "lost" (due to lack of training with the team) he is one quick player. Also impressed me with his ability to stand up in a tackle as he did in the Essendon game. Would be top 3 (equal with Walker) if knew his heart was in it.

This high rating of Dangerfield by some is just rubbish. I hope he becomes a superstar but lets settle down, he has a long way to go. Did I miss something in 08? As I saw it he had a year a little less than you'd expect for a number 10 pick. Not training with us regularly/school etc no doubt a big part of this, but lets wait for him to show us something before we annoint him

Walker has shown terrific SANFL form and is miles in front

Lets keep the pressure off Dangerfield and hope he develops in 09

I had him equal with Walker, his games with West Adelaide were on par with Walker. If he played a full season in SANFL would of done very well.

But your right he has not made it yet. having thought about it some more McKay is ahead of him at the moment.

Agreed, but VB and Porps should break through next year.

Can also see Mckay being up there at an earlier age than either, maybe 22 with two more solid seasons.

Douglas, Knights, Reilly and Vince could also get there. Both Goodwin and Edwards took 4-5 years before they evolved into elite midfielders. Bernie in particular has some special skills

i agree; Vince is heading in the right direction and progressing well...but Douglas needs some more time IMO, but he is younger i think. Reilly would be there already if he weren't injury proned, while Knights needs some luck with being injury free too...and needs to work on that kicking.
