2 1/2. One was a 5 pt loss to Sydney in Sydney the other was the obvious loss to a firing Collngwood. After Round 8 you had 5 1/2 wins including a draw with us and a win over the Eagles. You weren't going bad. Let's not get selective. Then it turned to sh1t again by round 9. Also easy to point out the late season shellackings against us in the last couple of years.
2010 on the other hand wasn't as good.....as you suggested. Just saved it for us in round 3.

What exactly has Henderson done this season to be considered amazing on these boards. He shut down Cloke when the ball was rarely there, what else? He kept Hurley to 9 possies and a goal in a half. Not sure what happened with Crameri in the second half. And Pavlich played half their game in the midfield.
Dont get me wrong, hes a good player but...

Fletcher is still a better attacking defender than Henderson, but Henderson is improving remarkably in that category as well. Kid is a star.
I'm not saying Henderson has had a better career than Fletcher, but in 2012, Henderson is the in-form defender IMO and is improving as a player rapidly.

Fletcher is 37 years old and still 10 times the player Henderson is.
Henderson has been quite good this year. Not great, as we have a habit on BigFooty of overrating the performances of defenders to try and draw attention to them.
But "star power" is a very silly thing to try and guess who will win the premiership by.

I would agree with that.
A) I am not saying Stanton is a bad player, I am just saying like Henderson he was not thought by his teams supporters to be playing well at the start last year. In Stantons case the "bronx cheers", though to me they sounded a lot more like booing, were so bad that Hird, Lloyd and Tim Watson came out to say what a disgrace the Essendon supporters were and that it might lead to him leading the club. From this I concluded Stanton was not in the same class as Kerr. I did state that over the last 6 weeks he had been, though he will need to overcome the heavy tag he will now command.
B)You are totally wrong on Henderson being Essendons best player Rd4 as Collins clear was. Henderson couldn't tough it, Collins butchered his 2 shots at goal and gave up 4 frees for holding the ball. By the end of the game you could see that he didn't want the ball to come near him.

I'd say Dempsey offers more to our side than Yarran does for Carlton, let alone Henderson.

Stanton has always been a champion...
And how are they "the form" Victorian side, ladder position and the fact they almost got beaten by GC would suggest otherwise.
No they will not win the flag, not even in this cycle unless they do some big F/A moves in the next couple of seasons. To my mind they will be a WBD of the last 4 years, always quick and explosive but inconsitent and will never do better than a prelim.

I should also add that this thread is a bad thread, designed only to bring in the usual suspects either before something happens (ie now) or after such a time when Essendon lose a few games (so that they Essendon has again shown it can't "live up to expectations").

Carlton's backline as a collective is really not the place you want to be stating a case for 2012 premiership glory...
Do you have any evidence for why dempsey, a taller more defensive minded player, is better than yarran a half back flank rebounder, more of a deep midfielder than a backman. They play different roles regardless of the fact yarran is clearly better.
And henderson is probably in the top two or three for the AA centre half back at the moment...

Henderson is having a great year, but don't underrate Fletch's year just because you think he's 37 and past it. Still going very well.
Both would be Hawks best defender quite easily, but that's a moot point.
