If you finish top 4, you're a chance. And we're certainly in the fight for top 4. So its not impossible. But the odds are still against us.

how so?

if Ess play Adelaide at AAMI in a final Id back Adelaide.

Early days.

Carlton, Hawks and Pies will be deep in the action in September, not dons and crows.

Last week you would have included Geelong in that list. ;)

Very open field this year.
No clear cut winner as yet in my opinion.
Very impressed with Essendon tonight. I thought they would win as I honestly believed the writing was on the wall for the Eagles when they just scraped home against Richmond and I thought they were due for a loss.
But the Bombers play Etihad as well as any team in the comp. It suits their helter-skelter style of play. The other thing I was impressed about with Essendon tonight, was their pressure and the way their pressured the opposition into making mistakes. They exposed some flaws in the Eagles tonight, but at full strength and on a different day, I still rate West Coast as capable of winning the flag.
Carlton are capable.
Hawthorn...no. Not for me. Will need to show more mental ticker to convince me.
Collingwood. Maybe.
Geelong. No. It's over. Much respect to them, but not this year.
Sydney? No chance.
I don't think Essendon will win the flag this year, but are they capable? Yes. Can I think of a side that deserves more favoritism than them right at this very moment? Not really.
Can't wait for next Saturday night.

Will they? Who knows. Can they? Absolutely, they are playing inspired, aggressive and tough footy and are 6-1 (could easily by 7-0 as well). This year is also one of the most even years in recent history. No one is streets ahead on top so I don't see why they can't go close.

Richmond game always worries me. Dream Time game used to always be their grand final, may be not this year as they are definitely building.

If it was at the Dome, I'd be pretty confident but being at the G, I think we'll win but I'm very very weary. We can't afford to give them a sniff.

Round 7 who knows? No one. Purely speculating at this point. But they have the midfield to do it have a good defence and their forward line is good too. Pushed us at Patterson's last year until we annhilated them in the last quarter. This game too good. We were due for a flogging in Melbourne and Essendon rarely lose to us in Melbourne just like they rarely beat us at Paterson's. Will be top 4 I think not sure about the Big Dance in late Spetember but we will see.

Though tonights margin was massive, it was a hard fought win for the Bombers. They showed good intent and ferocity, with a fairly even list and nice looking game plan. Should be a potent force this season.

Don't think so. When was the last time a team won the flag after not winning a final in the previous year(s)????? They should make a semi/prelim though. Next year a good chance.

Geelong 2007 say hi! Missed the finals in '06 (finished 10th), then no. 1 with a bullet the next year. The caveat on that however is that they had plenty of finals experience prior to '06, playing a semi in '05 and a prelim in '04

That said, with how open this year is, I wouldn't be writing any team in the top 8 off.

That's a pretty big caveat

So open this year it's so hard to tell.

Could potentially have a top 4 of Hawthorn, Essendon, West Coast and Carlton. Teams like Geelong and Collingwood still miss the top 4 but could easily win the flag. Any of that 6 coud win the flag based on what we've seen so far. Throw in Sydney, Adelaide, even Freo, Richmond and North who can all produce on their day and it's bloody tough to pick a winner at this stage.

They made the semis in 2005.....
