But is there a stat for clangers? How many times he passes to an opponent under immediate pressure? Or how many times he kicks into the forward line like a fairy who is intent on pavs shoulders taking a hammering from having to wait under the ball?

Dodd could do the job better, teach ibbo or mayne to do it, he gives away heaps of his GREAT work with his disposal by hand and foot.

Why would we want Ibbo or Mayne who have good skills to negate players when we want them to be attacking players? That makes no sense.

Do you remember last year when grandson played on Brent Harvey and was meant to be tagging him - great idea Harvey had an absolute cracker and won the match for them. I imagine if Matty Carr had him all day we might have won that match.

I'm saying teach them to do it, it would be better than them not playing for three years ala drum. M Carr could not run with harvey, no chance, love the bloke but no chance.

You are correct his job is to negate but when he has the ball, he ruins his hard work with inept skills or decision making. Which makes previous hard work worth a lot less. A modern tagger must be damaging on the way back.
