Both of these players took big steps in establishing themselves as good potentially elite AFL players in 2009. Both have reasonable pace and the ability to kick goals.

Winderlich has the ability to run with pace and finish off with precise kicking skills while Simpson is capable of combining with teamates as well as going for the odd bounce.

So i ask you, Jason Winderlich v Kade Simpson?

Winderlich can and will be elite. Simpson can not be elite c grade mid at best

Simpson's a good player but Winderlich is a level above, he's been dogged by injury and showed in '09 what he's capable of (even after an injury interrupted pre-season) - will become one of Essendon's most important players now that Lovett is gone.

both C graders IMO, simpson for me though.

You're both nuffies.

Both are very good outside line breaking midfielders. I'd give the edge to Winders though because he is more consistent. Kade has one great game then about three quiet ones.

Winders seems to consistently rack up 20 touches and a goal, when he's on the park that is.

Pretty harsh on both of them. IMO a C grade player is a fringe player who would struggle to start on the ground. Both these players had very good seasons and should be rated as good B graders.

Both need more consistancy, Simpson and Winderlich both had dominant games this year but they both had games where they did not get into the contest.

IMO I am banking on Winderlich to push to be our number 1 midfielder this year given that he was able to perform this year despite having a limited pre-season due to his back surgury. If he can improve his fitness he should do a lot of damage with his pace and skills.

well put them in a quality side and they would struggle to get a game, hence C graders.

Completely wrong there.

Consistent games to Varcoe and Tenace lasting 7 or so years on the Geelong list. Winderlich is a far superior version of these two.

I am pretty confident Geelong is a quality side too, hence they are not C graders.

Considering that Kade Simpson leads Jason Winderlich in pretty much every stat possible so far in their careers i would say simpson.

It helps that Winderlich has missed about 2-3 years of footy due to injuries.

Winderlich is a faster, taller and better skilled version of Simpson and in 2010 the gap between the two will get larger in Winderlich's favour.

Neither of these players are or ever will be 'elite', being a midfielder isn't all it takes. At this stage both are good 5th-6th midfield options, and very good link players. I think Winderlich is a better forward option and Simpson's good games are probably a little bit better. Simpson for me.

well if you rate that standard of player thats your bussiness, but im telling you now they wouldnt get a consistant game for geelong/stk/adel/coll/dogs, they would be lucky to be called C graders for those teams, but yeah, they probably rate A+ for carlton and essendon, you must realise that the gap between you and those 5 teams is massive, dont kid yourself thinking it isnt.

Of those sides they'd get a consistant game at Adelaide, Collingwood and St Kilda (remembering Farren Ray gets a game there). Bulldogs and Cats have better versions of them but they'd be depth players.
Both similar standard players imo with Simpson doing more thus far, with Winderlich being hampered by injury.

not as midfielders they wouldnt.

Obviously not starting in the centre square but given that nowadays flankers, pockets etc. get a run through the midfield they'd get a run. I don't think anyones claiming they're guns but i'm sure Essendon supporters are happy to have Winderlich and Carlton are to have Simpson as they are hardworkers who provide dash through the middle and can deliver to a leading forward.

i agree, im just takin the piss dude.

LOL gotta laugh at the delusion...Winderlich would get a game at ANY AFL team

We must watch two different games if you think Winderlich has precise kicking skills.. Im not saying Kades kicking is any better especially in front of goal (although his field kicking is fine), but I certainly wouldnt rate Winderlichs kicking as a strong point, let alone call it precise..

Honestly do you watch footy at all? It's his strength - he is a sublime kick of the footy.

Kade is a pretty good kick off both sides actually. You rarely see him try to swing around to get on his left. Quite confident kicking on the right.

I think his kicking is under rated mainly due to the few absolute shockers he pulls of from time to time. But on the whole, when you look at it, I'd say he's a very good penetrating kick of a football.
