St Kilda is such as devastating tragic club. They let their fans down time and time again. If they manage to win a flag in the next couple years, great, I seriously doubt they make top four in the coming years though.
What an odd thing to say. Saints fans would gladly trade a decade of mediocrity for a second premiership.

Yeah I know but "only 3" feels like a bit of a dilution of the reality.
3 mature good players gone.
It's a big hole to fill.
I realise u brought 3 in (Meek, Stephens, Amon).
So maybe ur right.
Stepehens remains an unknown.
If Stephens and Amon have good seasons then ur probably in a very good position.
It's "Only" 3 because of the constant reference to 1000+ games of experience lost

They will be losses, how much of ones are still to be decided

The annoying thing is how trash O'Meara and Mitchell apparently were to oppo fans

But now that they are gone, they are so important apparently

Our list looks pretty shit but if our senior players have a good year we could have a sharp jump.

big IF though.

IF our new crop of kids can get games and get rolling and get a taste for it then in 12 months from now the list could look a lot more impressive.

Cant afford any hiccups over pre season though

Reading skills working wonders for you

It was never said they were first rounders, just what we got for that years first rounder genius.

Again though, funny how you can put your rose coloured glasses on and give pass marks to spuds like Blakely and Tucker when it suits.

So your counting Allen and Ryan in both the list of 1st rounders and 2nd rounders in some desperate attempt to make your drafting look better and I’m the idiot ?

Name two Freo forwards better than Oscar Allen and Liam Ryan.

We got them both for a two pick down grade. Plus Petrucelle.

If you don't think that was good trading and drafting then yep......you are an idiot. Pretty plain to understand.

Actually mate it ended up a 2 pick upgrade. We got Allen with pick 21 in 2017 and gave up the last pick in the first round in 2018, which ended up being pick 23.

Absolutely burnt that first rounder I tell ya!

I don't think it will be a big "IF". The Senior players will be wanting redemption for the last 2 s**t years and not be known as the worst team WC ever fielded.
Pride can be a serious motivator and i hope, hope, hope they are again "prepared to Hunt"
I hope we show something.

At a minimum have a decent go each game. Some of the tripe in the first half of the year was horrid.

2nd half of 2022 was better despite only 1 win.

as people say though it's probably worse to finish 9th in our situation.

Freo’s forward line is terrible..no top line key forwards…Amiss looks like he will be a very good player but he’s at least 2 years off being a consistent quality forward.

Tabener is a decent player but injury prone.

Their small forwards are very good but no match winners yet in the Charlie cameron mould.

The dockers have drafted brilliantly in recent years with their midfield and backline looking solid. Their forward line is simply too poor to challenge over the next two years at least.

And Luke Jackson is not the answer. He’s a awful forward.

Agreed, we are between a rock and a hard place.
finish somewhere on the bottom we will cop a lot of "I told you so's". Consolation will be some good draft picks.
Finish in the eight or above we lose the draft picks but save a lot of face.
I am pushing for the latter.
I think the plan is to have a good year and bring in some high profile free agents and push for a Granny again.
But Shit, what the hell do i know.;)

Again, no one claimed them as first rounders.

Read it carefully, we swapped that years first rounder for a raft of second rounders and we netted Allen and Ryan as part of that haul.

The discussion was about what the Eagles did with those first round picks. In the same block of text it mentions Jack Redden and Tim Kelly.

So yes, you are an idiot with poor comprehension skills

Historically when West Coast have been predicted to have poor seasons and to be in for some long term pain they have bounced back in a big way.

I recall them coming from oblivion 3 times since 2010 and going deep.

2011 - they made top 4 after being bottom the previous year.

2015 - played in a grand final and were probably the best team all year after being a middle of the road side for a couple of seasons.

2018 - won a flag after retiring several of there core players the previous season.

Subsequently the future looked bleak for West Coast several times the last decade and they were able to buck the trend.

If the senior players can get on the park and a couple of the younger players come through they might surprise a few and bounce back quickly.

If the old fella's get and stay fit and pull their weight they won't finish last.

If they continue as per the last couple of seasons then the kids get a run and we likely finish bottom 4 to 5.

Stranger things have happened.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player play with less interest than Ryan last year and Allen is one of those anointed superstars who have never actually done much superstaring types

Still refusing to list Freo's forwards we see.

Had a look on your board and the best 22 thread. Lol can see why not a single Freo fan wants to discuss their forward options.

The smalls are quick I will say.

Schultz Taberner (29) Walters (31)
Switkowski Jackson Fredderick

Amiss entering his 2nd season.
Treacy a developing ruck / forward
And ol man Fyfe if his shoulder is OK.

Freo's best tall forward is who exactly? A ruckman who isn't a forward?

Taberner who can't stay on the park for long.

Then a 19 yr old Amiss? An unproven Treacy?

Freo still looking for that KP forward. Can't see that forward line troubling any top 6 side come finals. And Freo fans all know it. Lol.

I think you're underestimating Allen. He is very promising. Your club and many others (including ours) would jump to get him in. If he can get on top of his injuries, I'm sure he will show what he can do. Only 23yrs. Unfortunately, he didn't play a game in 2022 so easily forgotten.

Sure but he averages 1.1 goals a game with a best season on 28. Even Taberner has done better than that.

No doubt he is promising though and could take a big leap this year to be a top 10 forward

That fwds are most responsible for scoring is a quaint notion from the 90’s old boy

Lol. Ok.

Lets see how that pans out.

Decent key forwards arent important any more.

How has Freo gone in the past 22 years without a decent key forward bar 1 being Pavlich?

Pretty sure you know the answer old boy!

Richmond, Eagles and Geelong have won flags on the last 5years with at least one forward who won the Coleman or finished runner up (or third) that year.

Melly in 2021 was the exception to the norm.

You could argue if Collingwood had a Harry McKay, Tom Hawkins, Charlie Curnow or Tom Lynch type of FF last season they would have won the flag (or come very close to it)

Geelong's twin towers of Hawkins and Cameron was too much fire-power for the rest of the league in 2022 (with a little help from Stengle :) )
