Just read on the Port board that Kane Cornes doesn't believe that Port are offering him what he thinks he is worth in his new contract.

He is currently 27/28 years old with a good 3 to 4 years left (maybe). He is a proven stopper who couples that with being a ball magnet. Obviously has issues with disposal and diving ;).

My question is, do we need / want a player with his attributes? Would he add value to our young list for our upcoming premiership window in the next three years? Can we afford what he wants?

Be interested in your thoughts?

I dont think we have seen our best with Kane in recent years, and surrounded by a strong midfield he could be one of the best in the game.

Not sure if the Crows have a strong enough midfield yet, I would say in a couple of years, yes. But not sure if it would be worth picking him up imo.

Would probably take at least a First Round Pick dealing with us aswell. We arent easy to deal with it seems.

Haha, turn it up! He is worth jackall, old, and past his best. Lucky to get a late second rounder. Don't see why the Crows would want him really.

if he was 3 years younger, then yes from me, however, it goes against our ply the kids policy, while i'd love to find a place for him, it wouldnt be fair on guys like sloane, jaensch and vB to an extent...

If he's on the market then certainly, we'd be stupid not to consider it. Apart from another top line ruckman, our main need is for an elite midfielder and Kane Cornes certainly fits the bill. Would fit in nicely with our other mids, Vince, Thompson, Dangerfield, Sloane, MacKay and perhaps a change of scenery could be the tonic that revives his career.

We'd have to give quality to get quality though, probably a first-round draft pick and a player/late-round pick for compensation.

Personally, I wouldn't touch him with a 10ft pole even if we could get him for $100K a year.

He is a tagger, nothing else. He picks up touches which he generally wastes or puts an team mate under pressure. I'd rather Reilly who can at least penetrate with his leg.

We already have one Symes, we don't need another.

Why pay over the odds for a guy who wouldn't add a whole lot to our side and would require a large contract to get him here in the first place.

Add in what port would want unless they took it serious

I guess the cash strapped power will be in for a lot of this

K Cornes is obviously fishing for $450k+

why would we pay that for a tagger with average disposal when we can use that money to keep the YOUNG GUNS at our club

Port would want more than he's worth plus Radar and Dogga are doing well as taggers and their disposal is slightly better than Kane's. We also have a lot of talented kids who should be given preference over a guy who is nearing the end of his career.
I think he still hasn't forgiven the Crows for picking Laurence Angwin over him.

Laurence still has better disposal!

Why??

He doesnt hurt teams. 30 possessions of sideways footy means nothing. But thats Port game plan I 'spose.

We have more than enough players of his ilk. Players that are 5-6-7 years younger as well.

Major pass thanks.

if he's unappy with port's offer, then look no further than the gold coast. plenty of coin available there for the right player. i would have thought that he would have been ideal for them. mature, massively consistent, hard at ball and player. my expectation is that there is an offer on the table from the suns and his manager is now looking to get it matched in adelaide. answer to this

NFW - don't know if this is standard abbrev, but it means no fxxking way. unless a psd choice or late 3rd rounder. he would be a depth player only. while he will definately get a game for port this week, no way would he dislodge any of our midfield.
