That’s the most recent I’ve seen seen mate.

If we combine "contact with confirmed case", "under investigation" and "acquired in Australia" then we get the following tallies for these dates:

24/2: 26, 25/2: 27, 26/2: 27 and 27/2: 46

With the R0 2.5 applied we should see numbers around 65 on 4/3 and 115 on 8/3.

Late April/early May is the time to watch out to see if we have contained this thing or if people are going to die due to a lack of beds.

More People Died From Suicide Than Coronavirus In Tennessee This Week

MARCH 27, 2020 By Tristan Justice

"Knox County, Tennessee saw nine deaths by suicide within 48 hours this week as doomsday predicitons over the novel Wuhan coronavirus panics an already axious public and leaves millions unemployed and isolated."

"Other states have also reported an increase in suicide-related incidents as the virus continues to take its toll on the nation’s mental health. Crisis hotlines nationwide are surging with calls from Massachusetts to Oregon, both of which are states with “shelter-in-place” orders implemented, keeping people out of work and isolated at home.

In Portland, Police Chief Jami Resch said Tuesday suicide threats or attempts are up 41 percent from this time last year and have jumped 23 percent since 10 days before a declared state of emergency, according to local Oregon news outlet KATU."

Right most column very revealing. It’s twice as deadly if you are put in ICU than other viral pneumonias. And based on other stats you are more likely to be put into ICU. So even with the best modern medicine available there is still a higher than normal likelihood of death.

Relax isolation and those suicide figures would be dwarfed to oblivion in a short times. Most likely will be with isolation. Not sure point of the article

Good news for the UK albeit from the same University in the UK, Imperial

Prof Neil Ferguson initially predicted 250 thousand deaths and has since revised his figure to unlikely exceed 20,000.

A new paper out by Prof Tom Pike predicts 7,000.

Ferguson also has predicted the NHS will be able to cater for the demand.

So now they’ve taken extreme measures, the models have been re-run and shown they’ll likely have the desired outcome.

Who knew.

If you needed any evidence the Chinese have the WHO by the balls.

Surely WHO needs a serious investigation given the amount of time they’ve spent toeing the Chinese party line and not providing genuine unbiased information.

Taiwan is and has been the gold standard in managing this outbreak and yet never mentioned by the WHO.

Small sample but pretty horrifying numbers even for the young, 25% death rate from the ICU is massive.

More scientific experts say it's an over-reaction
Interesting point - One even suggests younger people should be mixing socially to strengthen herd immunity.

I'd say the fact they have been excluded by the WHO has probably increased their effectiveness in managing the outbreak. It seems countries that didn't take the WHO's guidance have done better than most others.

Possibly but it's a risky strategy as what happens if lots of young people need hospital at same time?

Brazil is providing your control for the herd immunity/ business as usual model

There was another part of the table that included BMI, I can't get it at the moment, will try later.
From memory, it made no difference.
BMI is not accurate as people who are muscular, BMI will say they are overweight.

About 15000 kids die every day from preventable reasons. No food. Not the right medicine that's reasonably available world wide.

How many dead kid - deaths is that , since the start or the year? Or since covid19 became big news?

I appreciate the virus could get really big. Yet currently in comparison the numbers are not too bad.

Like has been raised several times. Suicide and other stuff are also big issues in oz and globally

The cost around this will be incredible.
