yarran V sidebottom

Sidebottom looks a very good player.

Yarren has not done much yet, but I love the way this boy moves, seems so effortless, I think he lacks in the courage side of things, but so did Lovett, but in time I think Yarren could be a super player, but he needs to get a bit of will power and work hard. If he does look out.

Good post.

Good post.

Not at all.

Yarran, not Yarren.

Doesn't lack courage, but confidence in himself. From what I've seen of him throughout this preseason, he will be a very great player for us in 2011 and for the future.

That's enough out of you. ;)

I didn't necessarily agree with the courage aspect more so he's willingness to throw himself in the contest which probably links to confidence as you said.

And yes he spelt Yarran wrong, but I can forgive that.

I don't mind Yarran actually, reckon he will be a good player in time, just needs more experience and needs to find his niche in the carlton team. Like with a lot of the early 2008 draft picks you can see the talent there, whether or not they fulfill it of course is another matter.

But Sidebottom is probably the young player I'm most excited about at our club, his Grand Final replay performance was just pure class, I for one had him as my Norm Smith medallist.

Probably still too early to give a final answer but Sidebottom would be well ahead at this stage.

Got to laugh at theGeneral's post earlier though, that one certainly blew up in his face. What a clown.

sorry I spelt Yarrans name wrong, but I rate this young man, he has serious ability, and just needs the coaches to get behind him and help him use it as often as possible, when I said about his courage, I guess I was trying to say, he is not a in and under type of player, but who cares if he is or isnt.
You would rather the ball in his silky hands, and I am sure you will have some very special moments with him running down the wing or into goal.
Well for some reason I just see something special with Yarran.

Yazz has been used at HB all preseason so it will be interesting to see if this eventuates during the regular season. It should be alot easier to stay in the game for longer periods when you can see the play develop from the back half. He could be used as a designated kicker and someone we look to give the ball too, with his speed and class he should be useful.

The only problem I see in that plan is his defensive skills, usually a key aspect to defending. :o

His Aunty would be faster than Sidebottom and the rest of your mids.

If we had your overpaid and overrated spud recruiters, we'd draft flash in the pans like Dale Thomas because they played well in the TAC Cup final.

Derek Hine finalises his rankings by looking at BF's draft board and Inside Football.

Don't let facts get in the way of a poor troll.

Sidebottom is just 13 days younger than Yarran who kicked 39 goals in 13 WAFL games.

Kane Lucas and Dustin Martin are just six and five months older than Yarran.

Sidebottom and Beams are about as likely to be superstars as Cloke, Anthony, Swan, O'Bree, Shaw, Ball, Maxwell and Pendlebury.

The Pies are a well coached and well drilled team, yet they have stuff all elite talent to help them go all the way when it matters.

Collingwood were the only finalist who didn't have a superstar or future superstar on their list.

FFS this is hilarious! :p

I honestly wouldnt swan sidebottom for 2 yarrans at this stage, hopefully we get to see yarran playing more midfeild this year, that's where his future is IMO.

This will probably end up being seen as a pretty bad call, even Wayne Gretzky had a price!

I said how it sits now, yarran ATM is no better than the rookie we elevated during the year (blair), would i swap blair for yarran?, umm, yes, yarran has lots of upside, blind freddy can see that, IMO he's just going to take a bit longer, he'll end up being a star "IF" he lives up to his ability, all's ill say is it's going to be a make or break couple of years for the lad, if he doesnt improve he'll end up being a tambling mrk 2 (im doubting that though)

His Aunty would be faster than Sidebottom and the rest of your mids. (hes not fast but hes hard to get hold of and knows where the goals are)

Collingwood were the only finalist who didn't have a superstar or future superstar on their list. (guess your the expert can't argue with this one)

nice post by an obvious footy expert :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Easily Sidebottom at this stage, you can't argue with that.

But Yarran does have a very freaky skill set and moves with extreme polish. I think he'll become a very good player for us and may overtake Sidebottom.

I would go Yarran. Sidebottom is a bit over rated. He played a handful of great games but for a lot of the H&A season he was a fringe player. A fringe player in a strong 22 no doubt but from what I have seen I would take Yarran.

You do realise this is a bumped thread dont you?, bumped because it made certain people (who chose yarran) look stupid, and then you go and say you'd take yarran lol, i'll be sure to have a pen ready so i can jot down your future opinions regarding football.

No one looks stupid for choosing Yarran you ignoramus, it was bumped because of one post which turned out to be a bit off the mark but as for the two young players they both still have many years to succeed or fail.

A bit?

Enough. If you're aim in posting on this board is to play the man, your stay will be short.

He was in possession of the ball man :footy:, contact may have been a tad high but nothing to get in a twist over. :) but i apologize.

He finished eighth in the Collingwood B&F. Hardly a fringe player.
