The rule states that if you can't find a stadium in your home state to host the final, the team that finishes second gets to host.

Victoria were unable to do so (which is why the match was in Hobart).

But CA decided to ignore their own rule.

ok thanks.

IF WA won today, would you be complaining?

Yes they did.

There are no provisions in the rule for 'exceptional circumstances'.

Mainly because a state's inability to host a match is an exceptional circumstance in the first place.

Oh for goodness sake give up! You came second and did not deserve to host the final, due to exceptional circumstances the final was played at a neutral ground and you still did not win... them's the breaks, time to move on ;)

Meanwhile, winners are grinners :D

for those interested, foxsports (news) had a very short story on the shield win. showed a few shots, no wickets, and the bails bring flipped off to signal games end. that's it.

if it was nsw there'd be interviews with players, staff and coaches
There wasn't last year.

Anyway The_Reaper do you have an answer re: A tour?

Due to exceptional circumstance?

You mean the only time in history there has been a need to apply the rule?

CA ignored it's own rule and WA were disadvantaged by that.

Yes Victoria were the better team this season but that fact remains that CA ignored it's own rule.

I wonder how they will compensate the WACA for that.

In their news story when you press red, WA batsman Chris Rogers made 112 and Warriors spinner Fawad Ahmed took 8 wickets, the best figures in shield final history :D

Whilst Rogers is indeed Western Australian and grew up in the suburb next to mine, Ahmed is not.

Lol, Western Australians with their conspiracy theories about anti-Western Australianism :D

It's not a conspiracy theory when CA blatantly ignored it's own rule

The only conspiracy theory in Australian cricket is that NSW gets unfairly favoured.

And that conspiracy is mostly pushed by the Melbourne media

I believe it's after the Ashes
So could be seen as a bit early to pick an "A" squad. Based on the Shield season and players on the bubble I'd hope for something like:

Batsmen: Bancroft, Stoinis, Voges (c), Handscomb, Burns, Cowan, Maxwell
Keepers: Nevill, Whiteman
Bowlers: Agar, Siddle, Abbott, Behrendorff, Starc, Ahmed

And end up with an XI like:

Bancroft
Burns
Stoinis
Voges (c)
Handscomb
Maxwell
Nevill (+)
Agar
Starc
Abbott
Siddle

Its funny how anyone on the East coast especially Vics think they only have to play by the rules if it suits them:oops:

No point picking Voges or Siddle.

If they're in test contention they're in the test squad and if they're not in test contention they're wasting a spot in the A team.

Starc's in the same boat and Nevill should be the test keeper by then.

We played by the rules given to us by CA, going by last years precedent we could have played game in Alice Springs and WA would have had no right to complain!

Could probably put Ahmed in the same boat tbh. Just a serious lack of options with the bowlers.
