Marsh has scored his second century of the tour.
Watson hasn't exactly been in the worst form so far this tour with the bat. But he didn't bowl at all against Kent, while Marsh took a couple of wickets. IMHO, if the selectors really want a genuine all-round option, for the first test, it has to be Marsh.

Now that Marsh is in form and ready, sticking with Watson will be like late last year when we were selecting Siddle over Hazlewood.
I doubt we will be given the opportunity to find anything out about Marsh at Cardiff.

Proven gun. Marsh hasn't proven he can stand up when it counts. Honestly has never even proven he is any good at test level.

He was our second best batsman v Pak. Watson hasn't made a decent contribution with bat or bowl in over two years, but yeah, "proven" gun.

Shane Watson is probably the biggest dud when it counts in history. Dead rubber specialist. Marsh has had 4 tests, hardly enough time to prove anything.

He's averaged around 33 in test cricket for the past three years.

Holy s**t, marsh played well against Pakistan. That must have been difficult against those high quality bowlers.
Marsh isn't and never will be a better cricketer.

Did you just use Shane Watson's runs against county sides to justify Watson's selection directly after using Marsh's more runs against county sides to justify his non-selection?
