880+ noms and 55-60 will get picked, special night for the lucky few.
Just reading through the list I see quite a few old teammates and opposition through the Giants Academy. I've talked with a few quite recently, they know they aren't getting drafted and are happy just putting in the work through the VFL or work on their other careers while playing footy for fun. If I had to take a guess, the club puts up the draft fee as a part of their VFL/Academy deal, so why wouldn't they throw their name in?

Back in the day I think when you nominated for the draft it auto nominated you for three years

Not sure if that is still the case (not 100% that was the case back in the day either)

So the reason the draft is late this year is for the 3k people who will turn up to watch the afl w on the weekend

Surely we could have done the draft this week

Probably makes room in the media to focus on AFLW too.

I mean really, apart from a few smaller articles most of the hype has been around the draft not the AFLW

Forget about the draft being "late."

The 2023 fixture is a bit too late.

Lot of draft kids still on schoolies. Plus the draft date was set before the AFLW season dates I think.

Cal just said it was pushed back to be after the AFLW final

Its being reported by Cal Twomey that the Dees are trying to trade into the top 10, they are offering 2 future 1st round picks. Any ideas on who they would be targeting?

6.5k tickets sold out in 2 hours.

Hoping another 1.5k tickets go on sale tomorrow.
Still no reason not to do the draft Thursday-Friday and then the AFLW Saturday
