CFMEU Election Ad - Foreign Workers

Remove this Banner Ad

Due to other means, dont see much TV these days. Was just watching TV and saw a CFMEU ad, blaming Abbott for loss of jobs. How about they discuss the situation in Geelong, and how workers of Target and Ford have lost their jobs under the current Labor government? Why dont they tell the truth of the matter, rather than scare monger?

Union scum!

Just saw this ad on tv. A bunch of white guys claiming that foreign workers are taking their jobs, and somehow it is the fault of the leader of the opposition.

ALP = the racist party? Pauline would be proud.

There is no doubt the CFMEU are racist. There is no doubt the are bullies, thugs and have a criminal history.

It is a shame that they have a political voice through the ALP.

The ALP should do the right thing and disassociate themselves from criminal, racist and thug organisations.

Most of the bosses in the unions care more about their political future in the ALP then their members.

We're racist, we're proud, we'll never be defeated!

I can't wait until the CFMEU is brought to account, forced to operate within the law and operate within societies standards.

A Scotsman representing the CFMEU was standing out the front of Gina's office leading the chant "Australian jobs for Australian workers".

LOL.....doesn't the Scotsman know he is not Australian? Or did he mean "Australian job for white workers"?

F'N racists

Good thing the union movement wasn't instrumental in the introduction of the White Australia Policy.

So, were it not for this union's affiliation with the ALP, you'd vote Labor? Just one other thing, upon what evidence do you depend to make these accusations?

Are you serious?

Have you ever dealt with the CFMEU? They threaten violence, act out violence and discriminate.

Fortunately our workers just lock the gates when they turn up. We would rather close down operations than negotiate with terrorists.

Still no evidence.

Mr Setka received strong support from Mr Gatto, who told ABC Radio he been a mate of Mr Setka’s since he become involved with the building industry 20 years ago.
“He has been primed up for the top position and I think he is the ideal man for the job, someone like him should be running the country, to be honest,” Mr Gatto said.
Mr Gatto, who was acquitted of the murder in 2004 of hitman Andrew Veniamin, runs an industrial relations consultancy in Melbourne called Arbitrations & Mediations.
Hm...

Haha, thought the same thing when I watched it.

But I guess the "Beware the foreigners" schtick is okay when it's your own party doing it.

A lot of backpackers do it so they can get an extension on their working visas. I've got a South African cousin who did that.
http://www.fruitpicking.org/australia-working-visa
There is even an opportunity to extend Australia Working Holiday Visas for up to another twelve months by completing three months specified work in Regional Australia whilst on your first Working Holiday visa
I'd say that has more to do with backpackers doing it than some CFMEU conspiracy.

Still no evidence.

From today's Age

An official with the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union whose "life" was industrial safety has been convicted and fined $1500 for assaulting a manager at a building site in Melbourne.
A court heard CFMEU official Derek Ayisilou Christopher, 38, first threw his business card and then his construction helmet at the man, which struck him on the head.
Prosecutor Matt Fisher said there was then a brief scuffle between the two during which Christopher twice punched the complainant, David Barrett, to the face.

John Setka has a long history

Bill Shorten thinks there's a problem

Mr Shorten condemned yesterday's violent clashes between CFMEU members and riot police outside the Grocon site in Melbourne.
“Violence or unlawful activity or intimidation or bullying or harassment by any participant in the construction sector is not to be tolerated at all, and not to be tolerated on Australia's building sites,” he told reporters in Sydney.
“The Australian building and construction sector is a hazardous industry and workplace safety is the most important priority.
“However, there can never be any excuse for intimidation, violence and thuggery. The Australian government condemns the use of these tactics.

So the fact that the automotive industry in Australia has been completely unviable for decades has nothing to do with it, but is the fault of the union? Or the fact that in the 90s when a proposal was put forward to force all forms of government to buy locally manufacted cars was knocked back by the likes of Howard, Kennett and co is the fault of the unions?
Current governments had nothing to do with the job losses in Geelong, as much as some of the Liberal fan base might want to pin it on someone, decisions made over a decade ago condemned the automotive industry to die a slow and painful death.

Did you also know that Target Australia had more employees in their head office here than Walmart does in the USA head office? I guess that is the fault of the union too.

I also guess you don't want to discuss the 12,000 public servants who will be looking for new jobs under a coalition government either?
