Good call , he's a very smart footballer who works hard and runs to the right spots and doesn't clog it up for the talls. He's devastating when he does all this and finishes well.

Thanks for your positive comments on Stokesy, apart from his midfield work and goalkicking, how was the one he slapped back to Pods in the last quarter for a Pods goal, thought that was a gem, the poor little bugger got flattened for that!

Yeah , he's got some courage for such a slightly built guy - regularly gets poleaxed and keeps geting up again.
My only beef was our habit of kicking to him frequently in a marking contest - now that Tommy is clunking them that no longer occurs , thank goodness.

I think one of Stokesy's greatest attributes in the side is that he can fly under the radar quite a bit, and be quite damaging as a result of it. I'd hazard to guess opposition coaches try to put more work into curtailing the influence of both SJ and Chappy, which allows Stokes to sneak under their guard somewhat. We've seen some games where he's been able to bob up and kick 2 or 3 goals in a quarter, which has ended up being the difference between winning and losing (the 2007 Prelim and a game against the Hawks in 2010 in particular come to mind). His 2nd term in last year's grand final could've been similar if he wasn't so wayward with his kicking.

Hey, sorry. a bit late this week. For those who don't know, I've stepped up my volunteer photography for sports clubs this year.. as a result, I've worked something like 39 of 42 days and so use my online time as a bit of an unwind at the moment. Plus I'm still trying to find a balance as Wednesday night/ Thursday is when the VFL stats get posted online.
The game was a bit of a surprise first half as a desperate Coburg with no next week battled a Geelong who may have had one eye on week 1 of the finals.
1) M. Brown ~ Much quieter game as the wear and tear of the season is taking a toll on him. Didn't have an input in the back 50, and while he presented up forward, was far from dominant. Struggling for position atm although is looking set as the kick ins from points.
5) T.Varcoe ~ Started off busy but looking very rusty. As the game went on, his game kicked up in tempo and his class shone through. Was precise by hands and linked up well.
16) D.Simpson ~ good effort in the ruck. Didn't dominate, but battled hard against the Tigers rotating talls. 39 hit outs and 8 tackles was a good return as he is finding fitness and working harder on his game around the ground.
17) S.Byrnes ~ 24 possessions at 50% efficiency, although he had a number of key touches inside forward 50 in the second half which put the game beyond doubt.
24) J.Bews ~ good game, was caught a few times when he was trying to do too much, but wasn't afraid to carry the ball out from defense, often through the corridor, in playing the Geelong way. Has come a long way this year and is looking good for future years.
25) T.Gillies ~ 12 touches and 3 marks from a man who is playing a Scarlo-type role wasn't a great return given how often the ball was inside our defensive 50 early on. Is good on the rebound and got a number of touches through the midfield, he needs to work harder in the one on ones.
29) C.Guthrie ~ 23 disposals. Great game from Cam who looks set at VFL level. Needs to continue to work on his efficiency, but is showing the right signs for his game. Handballs more than kicks at the moment, which is surprising given how highly his kicking is rated.
33) G.Horlin-Smith ~ 24 disposals and 6 marks. Hard working midfield option who is adding strings to his bow this season pushing forward to a high half forward flanker. Tough player.
34) S.Hogan ~ 25 touches.. but of his 11 kicks, only 2 were efficient explains why he is stuck in the VFL. Isn't damaging by foot which upsets his game. Hard at it and a contested player, but foot skills aren't up to it this season.
36) N.Vardy ~ 9 touches, 6 tackles, 11 hit outs. Played the majority of his game time as a high half forward. Has got his aerial leap back and is looking set for a big 2013.
40) D.Wojcinski ~ 11 touches through the midfield at 40% by foot means that while his run and carry may be threatening, they are not damaging. Will be battling to get back into the team.
41) J.Stringer ~ More inclined to handball. Tough, contested game by Jesse who is heading back to his AFL form, adding another dimension to the Cats midfield.
43) G.Burbury ~ 19 touches, 12 tackles. Great game. Handballs more than he kicks, but he is the Stevie J in this lineup. Presents strongly on the lead and can take a good contested mark despite his size. Great option going forward and in career best form.
45) J.Hamling ~ 9 touches but 100% efficiency. Played down back in the absence of Andrew McLean and had a good second half. Needs to spend the summer in the gym, but is showing good signs for 2014 and beyond.
47) R.Bathie ~ 13 tackles but 1 mark. Has become a keystone down back this year, playing on smalls and talls and competing well with his speed and spoiling skills.
48) M.Blicavs ~ 12 touches, 3 tackles. Really showing great signs in tandem with Vardy and could be an x-factor in the finals.
50) D.Gleeson ~ tough, in and under player who moved up into the midfield with the players rested. Led from the front and has been a great recruit this season.
52) J.Hollmer ~ 3 goals from a player who continues his purple patch up forward. Smart around goals and playing the key forward spot well.
53) J.Barham ~ 17 touches through the midfield and good as a link player until a late calf injury which will see him miss a month. Has stepped up his game this season.
56) C.Tutungi ~ 14 touches in a good display down back. Will miss the next two weeks. Provides good run and carry.
57) H.Corrigan ~ 14 touches, solid game. Quieter around goal, but played his roal.
63) J.Whitford ~ 14 touches, 5 tackles. Was caught a few times when he ran from half back to half forward and needed to dish off a handpass, but showed good courage and some good signs.

Mitch Brown straight swap for Boak ?

Straight swap no way. Kid's played 5 games, Boak's played 105.

More like Brown + 1st.

In any case doubt Brown would want to go to Port, it would be a third club involved.

Also doubt we would trade him.

Also has improved a lot this year with the switch to defence, keep him there and he'll progress.
