100%. From the list above there is a few training with AFL clubs so keen to see who steps up at state league footy this year.

Anyone know what the story is about NGA guys who were overlooked in there 18th year but coming back as a 19 year old?

Essendon have a few who are playing at VFL level &/or playing as over agers at Calder this year. Curious if we still have access to match bids post 40 or if they become void once overlooked?

Wearherill should be on an afl list. So many of the young men you highlighted should be on a primary or rookie list. And now many of them are stuck playing community footy, particularly the ones that are with an aligned AFL club due to the lack of VFL spots available game day. Just highlights how much better the sanfl and wafl are in terms of state league opportunities and pathways.

Totally agree.

It's going to be interesting to see how the pathways change if the AFL go the way of having an AFL reserves comp.

I've always thought an under 21 or 22 development league in the VFL or associated to NAB League clubs would be beneficial for some of these undrafted kids to get more exposure. In saying that, some kids would be drawn back to local clubs because of the cash on offer to play seniors.

It's a shame that kids like De La Rue, Philactides, Jake Smith, Taha, Docking, Nyko ect are unlikely to get any consistent game time at VFL level this year.

The Victorian pathway system is not good enough. Clearly going by the SANFL v VFL game the SANFL has gone ahead of the VFL for top end talent. And it’s easy to see why.
