I thought the SANFL holds Port's license which means they can remove Port's board and appoint a new one if they go a direction they do not approve of.

not directly but they could force this to happen. yes.

the AFL club cannot exist without the SANFL's blessing, so if they were really unhappy they could threaten to withdraw the license NBL stylee and you would see a board spill arising from that.

I have no intention of handing over my hard earned to Port Power. I already subsidise their workless lifestyle when I pay my taxes, isn't that enough.

Yes 31k is a little ordinary!! If i hear one more Crows supporter use this lame excuse of 'we dont wanna give port our cash' i will throttle them! What a rediculous excuse, and thats what it is an excuse not to go and support your team. Rain hail shine...get there, don't jump on board only when its all going well! And that is aimed at a minority of supporters!

Actually, its the MAJORITY of AFC supporters. Good on them - give the scum nothing.

About 10k ticket sold for this game. Hence at least 10k of "us" were there.

They have 34k members, capacity is 51k with 6k left for sale saturday morning. For Chocko to blame us Crowies for not showing up is a disgrace. at least 10k of thier members were not there.

I went as I love the Port showdown, only time you get an "SANFL type" atmosphere. I couldnt give a dam about "supporting" them financially. In the end a strong Port Power (financially) is good for SA footy.

Is anybody out there?

Actually, its the MAJORITY of AFC supporters. Good on them - give the scum nothing.

Actually on my way to the ground a car slowed down, the driver leaned over to manually wind down his window, and screamed at me "F*****G PORT SCUM!", before driving off.

Was that you Springy?

And on the Choco's crowd comment? Winners are grinners, and losers ...... well after 5 in a row, I guess you all know the rest?

Its good for us if Port Power are strong - hmmm that's interesting. If you become a CEO let me know so I can avoid buying your companies shares.

yes it's the stadium not the tranches of conditional supporters.

you keep telling yourself that.

And you keep telling yourself it's the Supporters, and not the Stadium.

I'm not a conditional supporter, I'd just, sometimes, rather not spend close to 3 hours travelling to and from a game, struggle to find a park, pay for it, sit in sub-standard facilities, get wet, freeze my arse off, get ripped off for over-priced and substandard food.

To be honest, if you want to label me as a conditional supporter, that's your choice, and it doesn't particularly bother me. I've stated my reasons for not attending every game, whether or not they're valid to you is irrelevant.

The world and people are changing, and the SANFL are refusing to acknowledging it. Hell, one of my Uncles has a fantastic Home Theatre set-up, and he flat out refuses to go to the Cinemas now; he'd rather wait a while, pay to buy the DVD of the movie from overseas, and then watch it in the comfort of his own home.

You call it conditional support, but it's not, it's basically how the majority of the younger generation view life; we don't expect to pay for the please of being uncomfortable and inconvenienced.

i dont see why the clubs cant get together & sell the showdowns by alternate bays & ditch the home game thing & make it more of a pure football spectacle.

showdown 1, bays a, c, e, etc crows supporters, bays b, d, f etc for port.... & then reversed for showdown 2. club members get to go to atleast one showdown a year & the crowd would be a far more exciting, closer to, 50/50 split.

arent you/we all tired of going to games with lop-sided crowds? sure looks like it.....

You would hope that would never happen – even if it is port.

Rediculous! The chance to go and support your team and because you dont wanna give some rabble of a club a few bucks u wont go? Good to see the typical SA mentality is still alive and well over there!

Relocate the Crows to VIC, us diehard crows supporters will show what true support is! There was probably more supporters v collingwood in rd 15 then v port rd16.

If ur a TRUE supporter u should be doing everything u can to get there... If people simply cant be bothered, dont complain when our players seem to play like that! If ur not in it for the long haul, find someone else to support!

Sorry mate your the living, breathing definition of a fair weather supporter. Anytime you choose watching the footy on TV over live at the ground is fair weather. If you think im having a go, I am. I was at the game and it was piss weak effort from both sets of fans. If both teams had won 4 in a row as opposed to lost 4 in a row we would have seen a sellout crowd. Dont blame the stadium because you couldnt be arsed, we all know its not perfect but its what we've got, and its staying so get used to it.

Mate, I couldn't give a rats a$$ what you think. There's no way I would remotely or indirectly support that filth.

you could argue that anyone who doesn't attend every match including the away games.

If Port make a profit, they give money back to the SANFL which helps all 9 teams and junior footy.

The AFL gives our state bugger all to develop our kids. Our two AFL clubs plus the SANFL are all we have to put money back into the game to stop the next Roo and Tredrea from playing soccer.

Another good reason to go is to see your team play live an extra time. I can understand if it creates a financial hardship for yourself. Actually yesterdays game was the most expensive Footy Park game for me all year. Went to Ikea beforehand and the missus wanted a new coffee table and other assorted knick knacks. I live in northern suburbs so we decided to go there first (sweddish meatballs for lunch mmm). Then she dropped me off and since I didnt have to drive I drank a few Stouts.

I agree, its not. But if you would rather sit at home and watch it on TV (convenient considering we've lost 4 in a row) then decide when we're winning to start attending again then its considered fair weather/bandwagon/piss weak.

Except that isn't what I said at all?

As I said, I was never in a position to attend more than a couple of games a year until recently, due to work committments, so it wasn't a factor. Now, I am in a position where I can, but obviously I don't have a ticket, so it's a week by week basis as to whether or not I go.

It's got nothing to do with winning or losing - believe me, I used to support West Torrens, and went literally every week, when we were always getting flogged.

I've gone to Brisbane to watch that game, I'll be going to Melbourne probably to see the St Kilda match.

Win or lose, I support the Crows - but I don't support the SANFL and their refusal to concede that AAMI Stadium is the main reason for poor attendance.

Hell, give us a decent, modern, central stadium, and I'd probably by a season ticket for the Power as well, and go watch most of their games.

why would adelaide want to do that when we get good crowds to our showdown?

With only 31k there (and that seemed a very generous official figure) the atmosphere didnt seem very intense, and the game seemed to live up to those lowly heights as well. If the Port supporters around us were a reflection of the average Port supporter, then I can see why people dont go.

I have no intention of handing over my hard earned to Port Power. I already subsidise their workless lifestyle when I pay my taxes, isn't that enough.

again, Spingy it's your choice. you don't have to go to games if you don't want, no one is saying otherwise.

but that excuse? please.

And you keep telling yourself it's the Supporters, and not the Stadium.

yes, of course. it's not that you can't be arsed.

I'm not a conditional supporter, I'd just, sometimes, rather not spend close to 3 hours travelling to and from a game, struggle to find a park, pay for it, sit in sub-standard facilities, get wet, freeze my arse off, get ripped off for over-priced and substandard food.

actually that is exactly what makes you a conditional supporter.

if everything suits you, weather, convenience, results etc etc.. then you might make the effort.

To be honest, if you want to label me as a conditional supporter, that's your choice, and it doesn't particularly bother me. I've stated my reasons for not attending every game, whether or not they're valid to you is irrelevant.

everyone has reasons blah... yours add up to this: I don't want to.

what is odd is that you want to make the case for why you are not a "conditional" supporter and then explaining exactly why you are in the same breath.

you'd be better off arguing it's your right, rather than denying it. which I agree with.

The world and people are changing, and the SANFL are refusing to acknowledging it. Hell, one of my Uncles has a fantastic Home Theatre set-up, and he flat out refuses to go to the Cinemas now; he'd rather wait a while, pay to buy the DVD of the movie from overseas, and then watch it in the comfort of his own home.

good for him. if he enjoys that, he should do that. no problem.
same with you, don't go to the games if you don't want. but cut the excuses, if that's the sort of supporter you are. fine. worringly you are not alone.

You call it conditional support, but it's not, it's basically how the majority of the younger generation view life; we don't expect to pay for the please of being uncomfortable and inconvenienced.

that's exactly what it is. no matter how much you'd rather it weren't.

If your convenience is worth more than your club, that's your decision. fine. just stop trying to have your cake and eat it too. Either that or join up to "When It Suits Me FC"
