As unlikely as it was, it was still a remote possibility that they would be - and if they've gone out and got blotto, then that's really disappointing. Quite typical of the modern Australian cricketer as well. Stuff cricket, better things to do.

You'd think Clarke and Hughes might have done well to avoid any more reasons to pack them off other than their pea-hearted and pathetic efforts at the crease.

Wouldn't be the first time for Hughes. At the Birmingham test in '09 (where he announced he was dropped on twitter) he was out legless after day 1. Of all the bars in Birmingham, why he chose to go to the walkabout with all of the Aussie fans remains a mystery.

Yep, cos none of our players enjoyed a beer back in the 60's, 70's and 80's:rolleyes:

What, when it was barely professional?

These clowns are on base contracts of more than 1 million per year. You'd like to think in return they'd be able to show a bit more discipline and restraint than to go get maggoted after Day 3 of an Ashes Test Match.

Pretty disappointing, particularly for the vice captain.
Even more so, considering he's likely to be captain for the Sydney test.

Lol bit of a non issue, but it wont stop the frothing Victorians from jumping around like some rabid monkeys.

Just relax, this wont get Cameo White into the test side :o

Andrew Symonds was stood down for something similar, IIRC.

You said it was typical of modern cricketers to go out an get hammered. Why is it typical behaviour of modern cricketers? I'd say it's typical of cricketers in general.

And Clarke was rite in the mix of all that in terms of the decision making by the team leadership
Forgot all about that. That's what ended their friendship.

Oh the hypocrisy.

Look they were out celebrating Clarkes Appointment as captain and Hughes VC, give the guys some slack.

CA announcement at 5-30 pm AEST
