I wasn't bagging him, I just think he needs to lift it up a notch and stop leaving so many dot balls. A strike rate of 60 is a tad too low in ODI's for my liking, especially in Hobart.

Yeah fair enough, I was more talking about the people saying that he "is not an ODI player" based on his first few games, which have been good.

I agree with you that he allows too many dot balls and needs to turn more of them into singles, but I think that will come with experience.

Hussey is the king of rotating the strike. Rotating the strike is his strength and that is what makes him our best batsman I reckon. Forrest on the other hand is the complete opposite but I'm willing to give him a pass for the time being, seeing that he has found himself in situations where early wickets have fallen and cautious approach has been needed.

Thats what people (including myself) mean by he is not an ODI player. He hasn't even been able to do it in domestic cricket, what makes you think he will do it in Internationals? Especially given his domestic strike rate of 63 to go with his 28 average.

I also agree on Forrest to be a bit more proactive in his batting, but its good to have someone who is reliable in that top order so the Husseys aren't coming in until about the 30th over when they can do what they do best. No good having them come in at 3/40.

That's why we have the Hussey brothers coming in next to pick up the run rate.Get off Forrests back ffs.
Why is he given any lee-way? What's wrong with expecting more from a player that has such a low strike rate in a game and is unable to keep the score ticking by.

What a disturbingly bad 50 from Forrest, how dare he set up an innings and steady the ship. We would've been better off with Ponting batting at 3, at least he wouldn't have wasted all these deliveries.

He has scored three half centuries so far when coming in after our top order has done nothing.I think his doing a superb job :thumbsu: Don't have to make 50 in 30 balls. It's not a 20/20 match. He has time to set up his innings.

We showed in Brisbane that we don't have to be travelling at 5-6 an over for most of the innings to post a good score. It's about keeping wickets in the sheds and building a total to a point where the middle and lower order can have a licence to open up.

Forrest is dam consistent, would say hes booked himself a trip to the Caribbean.
