Been a tremendous career, even if he's been overshadowed by his compatriot, Sachin. India will be hoping (a) Sachin and Laxman don't pull the pin at the same time (relatively) and (b) the replacements in the wings are good enough to step up to the mark.

When your a top order batsman getting your stumps knocked back most innings its pretty much time to go.

I remember when Vaughan from Eng was getting bowled, he held on for a while but it means your pretty much finished

Definitely time to start sweeping the broom in the Indian middle order. It's a shame he was a shadow of his former self in the end. I remember years ago modeling a large part of my defensive game on his technique. He was pure class with a fantastic temperament. Wasnt just a 'wall' either- in his earlier days he made some pretty swift tons in ODI cricket (see 1999 world cup stats)

My dad was in India a while back and he showed me a page from an Indian newspaper that had a 16 year old Dravid just having completed some ridiculous record breaking schoolboy innings where he got 300 odd and was bein touted as the next big thing. Fast forward two decades later and he did have quite the career.

Well done champ.

I hope he's remembered as the 'wall of india' the rock on which so many great indian victory's was built on and not the travesty that was punished in Australia.
