A year ago I said Bartel.

I'd probably have him at three now, and Watson on top.

Bartel and Swan have been the better two over their careers. Comfortably too.

Having him and Swallow on the same side would be incredible.

Bartel and Swan are surrounded by class (not to say there's no class in the Essendon midfield, it's just lacking a little more than the Pies and Cats). Players like Kelly, Enright and Chapman ease the pressure off Bartel a little and less is required from him. Players like Pendlebury, Beams and Thomas ease the pressure off Swan a bit (even though he still smashes out 40 touches a game) Swan is a ball magnet, what he does with it is not of the standard of what Watson (or Bartel for that matter) does with it.

If I had to pick a GF team Bartel would be first by a long way over both.

I say swan quite comfortably

I'd have him in a pole against Ablett and Judd. He is very underrated on BF for some reason.

I'd also have swannie and watson ahead of bartel.

But I'd pick watson just on the basis that he is a saint on and off the field, and swannie has said he won't play a long way past 30, which I believe.

At the peak of their powers Bartel is easily the most damaging of these three players and also more flexible as a utility so I chose him based off that. However on 2012 form would have to go Watson, Swan........... Bartel as much as it pains me.

On current form Bartel's a while off. At their best I'd say he's number 1.

Bartel had probably his quietest season whereas Jobe definitely his best and Swan not far off it. Strange poll really.

Don't cut your team short there mate, you had a lot of injury problems in 2012 which stopped a lot of the class from shining bright, but you know what did shine bright? Watson, a diamond in the rough, a superstar player! Now hopefully he can mold those midfielders around him for a big 2013 for the Dons.

At nearly 29, he's not the player he was at his absolute best. Still one of the first picked though.

Of the others I'd have Watson over Swan. Way better disposal efficiency from my observation.

Wouldn't say way better overhead, line ball who is better imo, these 3 are just about the best marking mids around.

Jobe admitted he had to improve in that area. He has somewhat but still way behind Jimmeh as a contested pack mark in my view. Swan is ok in a one-on-one marking contest but I'm yet to see him fly in a pack and take a big clean grab.

The poll in my opinion is who has been the best over their careers. Watson has really only been top class the past 2-3 seasons and therefore I don't believe he deserves to be in the same conversation as Swan and Bartel. At their best Bartel was the best player but Swan is catching him.
