I will admit, it looks much better if you throw in Tippett at FF - I'm starting to warm to Hendo at CHF with Jamo and Laidler the other talls down back.

I've never been much of a Tippett fan I'll be honest, and his issues with concussion make me very nervous about the club throwing him the kind of contract he'd be chasing. If Sydney's success showed anything this year from a recruiting perspective, it's that you can shift the league and find quality for a reasonable price.

I reckon Mick is going to give Watson a fair crack down back next season and if the club do get Lachlan Hansen, Watto could even manage the third tall role and Laids could play more to his height or as a cut-out.

Honestly, I wonder if Sydney themselves believe that they got a bit lucky in a year that was extremely even without any true standout sides. The teams that could have been the true standouts were all rocked at various points of the season with decimating injuries (Carlton, for one). Hence, Sydney are reportedly keen on Tippett.

I think we have already proved that sifting through the 'almost there' lists at other clubs can be fruitful, as Laidler and Henderson have shown.

That dirty sniper Milburn did us a massive favour by playing on one year too many giving Laids the incentive to look elsewhere. It still doesn't make up for what he did to SOS.

We need to find the players that can slot into a team to replace an established player and not look out of place, usually these guys have a couple ahead of them in the same position like Kennedy who went to Sydney so they are surplus until there are injuries. Offer them more game time as the incentive to move and there is a strategy to get what you need.

I heard you blokes didn't have room for all your rookies on the main list, so Tom Bell was going to be left on the rookie list but he has threatened to walk if thats the case. If so wouldn't mind him at the doggies but i highly doubt you would leave him on the rookie list as i was quite impressed with him this year. Is this correct or false?

Was the first rumour about this true or you haven't heard about it..i agree you would be crazy to let him go.

He's reportedly been getting three year offers but the club have a number of players who need to be promoted. It would be idiotic if he wasn't promoted, however, I do believe that it will happen.

Other teams would be foolish not to investigate his availability but it does not mean he's going anywhere.

Welcome. There's been a heated discussion on here. On the one hand, he's a hulk of a lad who some have compared to a raw Kouta. On the other hand, his skills have been questioned.

The main issue is elevating 4 rookies in the one year and fitting them all in on the one list. Tuohy and Casboult have been promoted, leaving Bell and Curnow in limbo.

Who is sacrificed to make room for Bell? Depends on the trade period and what offers we receive for Tom and other uncontracted players. It may be the trade offer we receive for Bell benefits player and both clubs alike, despite him winning some medal the other night.

sure but what if we don't receive offers for unsigned and fringe players such as Ellard, Curnow, Duigan, Joseph, Collins, Davies, Bower etc? What if Russell and/or Thornton attract absolutely no interest and a new coach offers one a 'sympathy' 1 year deal?

One or more players will then need to be squeezed out and a Bell trade is then a possibility - however unpalatable that may be to some.

I think he repeated his post yesterday suggesting that we're no further down the track promoting Bell than we were a couple of weeks back.

In his words: "Not looking good"

In other words, stay tuned for trade week. If someone else is traded and frees up a spot, he is upgraded. If not, he walks.

It has to raise questions whether we're open to trading Bell and/or Curnow whether we like it or not.

List management isn't easy and it was always going to be tough this year for many reasons, so it's no surprise that we may be holding off upgrading everyone just yet.

Would be very disappointed if we trade Bell.
If we trade Curnow, so be it. I wouldn't elevate him this year anyway.

We have a poster here who knows what's going on with Bell.

cheers, would love him ;)

Would you be disappointed if it was for a pick under 30 though?

There's no way we'd get that but if it was presented, what to do?

Bell's strength around the stoppages is just what we need. Hold onto him for dear life, I say.

The Bulldogs wouldn't give up pick #27 for Bell.

I think we'd be more than just a little interested should you want to though.
Hypothetically it's about meeting somewhere in between.

Bell + 52 = 27?

We'd then be left with 11, 27, 33 and the Russell compo pick.
