Can anyone tell me whats happening with Laidler, Duigan Mitchell and McCarthey? It seems like these 4 aren't in MM game plan? It must be very frustrating not being in the senior team because the VFL is a complete Joke, they don't play week in week out, its impossible to show how you are going when there is No games. The Interstate teams have there players playing every week in the SANFL and WAFL and when there players come in its with game time behind them and form. The AFL needs to do something about it, bring back the Reserves, atleast then our players will be playing every week and putting pressure on players in the Seniors.
Sorry there is my Rant for the Year..

Good question and I'll answer this in two parts. A = What I have seen. B = What the noise is coming out of the CFC.

Laidler:
A: Hasn't lost his smarts but seems to be getting off the mark slower than 2011. Still not running out a full game for whatever reason.
B: Speed is needed in the back-line.

Duigan:
A: Showing great energy and intent but just too slow and not nimble enough for the opponents he would play on. Gets turned around too easily.
B: The above covers it. Can't see him remaining on our list next year.

Mitchell:
A: Not kicking a lot of goals but seems to have a directive to involve others. Has been working hard but has some way to go.
B: Mick told Mitchell what he needs to do before any call-up early on in the year.

McCarthy:
A: I can't make heads or tails out of McCarthy. If his foot is getting in the way of what he's offering then O.K. but forget him for this year. Will need a huge pre-season.
B: The CFC still love him but I'd love to know just how much Mick loves him. Would be interesting.

How good was Cachia? For the last 3 weeks, since the Lead Cheater re-signed for four years, we've heard how he's now the equal of GAj, and heading for his second Brownlow*. Now a bloke who has been given a second chance with less than 10 games under his belt runs with him for four quarters and does brilliantly. I was sure at HT that the Lead Cheater would get away from him. Then again the same thought crossed my mind at 3/4T. Just fantastic. Thrilled for him and all the hard work he'd undertaken. Has a big frame and will be an awesome competitor when he fills out. Hope he can develop the skills and endurance to match. Need to get Diesel working with him now.

Cachia, Casboult Curnow types are the future - young enough to know they can't be beat man on man if they put in. Malthouse needs to go blue collar with selections and ditch the blokes who aren't fast and hard enough or willing enough to beat their man or die trying. Some of our gun big paid players are not guns they are just pulling the big dollars based on luck and happenstance and they have developed a DNA of fail when it matters because someone else can do the job - FACT.

Embrace the fact of where we are and look forward to a logical and rational more sustainable team list to emerge based on a game style that can beat better teams - I have.

I was gutted and still am to be honest but cmon guys! Our season isn't over yet. Hopefully we learn from last night and be all the better for it!

I cannot bring myself to watch/listen to any footy this weekend.

I hope so I wish I had your enthusiasm.
Maybe tomorrow I will be more positive but yep still hurts :(

Trust me mate, I'm struggling but we have to remain positive!

I felt the same when I woke up this morning BUT I turned on Crunch Time and listened to what they had to sat about us and surprisingly didn't feel any worse.

We can't dwell on last night AS LONG AS WE LEARN FROM IT!

We are Carlton, **** the rest!!! :D

Feeling new levels of flatness today.

Know the feeling. .. Still working out where we lost it. .. Had winners all over the ground. .. but Bluegal says it best. ..

EFA and me too. Nothing really stands out though :(

The only thing I can remotely put my finger on is that we arrested back momentum by slowing down the game and our forward entries. .. but then we never got out of slow motion. .. Still played well enough all over the ground to win it though. ..

Here is an absolutely damning stat.

As of the end of last night's game Carlton do not have a winning (.501+) record at any ground used in the AFL today.

Not even the MCG.

The Swans showing why they are in my opinion equal favorite for the flag. To think we beat them twice in 2011 and look at them now.
Culture and development and working your arse off to get better.

Not sure where all this Carlisle arse kissing is from since the guy was beaten for most of the game. Takes one mark and that excuses Waite kicking five in a half on him.

I know right. He gets toweled up by Waite so they need to move him forward to have any impact and he did jack shit there as well.
