Nick Smith and Jesse White from Sydney have been linked heavily in recent days to the cats. Smith is exactly what we require to play that small back pocket role. White was expected to go to pies but cats are making a late bid. Sydney want cats pick 15 as a minimum for the 2 players. Collingwood only prepared to offer a pick in the 30's to 40's for White which has held up the deal.
Two players means we'd have to shed more guys off our list...seems an odd move to make considering the list squeeze.

Smith is probably worth a look, not too sure about White.

I would do that. Smith and White are 25 and we could have them for 6-8 years and the exactly the required players we need, A tall forward to help Hawkins and a small defender to shut down small fowards.

How is White what we need? Another lumbering forward / ruckman who is average in both roles? We've already got McIntosh for that.

Just thinking maybe cats trade pick on to swans for smith and white. We keep smith trade white onto collingwood who want him and a later pick for shaw. Possibility
Not sure if you can on-trade players just obtained via a trade.

Been wrong before in these situations but I can't recall any club doing that.

I actually thought White was good for the Swans this year. And not lumbering at all, quite quick and agile for a big man. But at the cost/wages which have been mentioned, I wouldn't do it.

I think can get around it by trading players for super late picks and other silly things yeah?

Not if West and Varcoe go the other way. 2 for 2.
If they are looking to shed 2 players for a single draft pick they are doing it to ease cap space.

Bringing in two players the other way seems to defeat the purpose, especially when one (Varcoe) is still under contract on decent coin and there would be some expectation that Sydney would pick up part of the contract.

Yeah that's correct. White doesn't technically
Come to us. Once everyone agrees on it. Sydney would pass white onto coll for pick 68 we would get smith for pick 15 pies would give us shaw for for 52. Along those lines. Trades look silly but everyone gets what they want

If we are looking for a player to replace Enright, I think Smith is a better option than Shaw, because he is younger, is also more defensively minded and would have a lower salary.

I still don't think HBF is our priority but if we are after one, I hope it is Smith.

**** you Balmey! Stop stonewalling!

This "on-trade" thing that keeps coming up: while technically you can't on-trade players, you can just organise a three-way trade which has exactly the same effect.
