What can i say, I rate the kid besides, Conca can be replaced with another medium paced, big arsed mid with medium level disposal.

I will probably get smashed for this but if we are going to push our time table forward..this year instead of next year to get Shiel. I would offer GWS at best our first rounder and conca for Shiel. Shiel is exactly what we need. A future leader, with elite talent who will further add to Cotchin, Martin and co. I would try maybe to get a second rounder back from gws as well if we can. We would have to offer something like that to be a chance tbh.

I agree but its in the realm of what we would need to seriously offer if we want to get the deal done. Maybe our first rounder and Batch or Grimes but we would have to give a first rounder for him you would think and a player.

You touch on a important part with our rookie list. It looks like we fill it with the odd kid/prospect and then add mature types as insurance for injury, then every two years...keep those that work and delist the rest.

miles and foley the only real hits in the last 10 years, miles barely half a season into his career.

dont seem to find too many diamonds in the rough there anymore.

Pretty happy with the delistings. Cut deep enough without overdoing it.

arnot possibly trade bait but could break into the side with jacko gone. hard to tell with thomas i suspect we will retain him, just not sure if as a rookie or not... hopefully we dont jump the gun with him. rookie at best.

Pretty much because that is after trade period has finished and about 4 weeks before the draft, so it gives sides a chance to ensure they have enough room to do what they want to do regarding drafting and any PSD recruits.

Conca gets this preseason to show how good he will be. He has played some very high calibre games but this is his best chance to put it all together

The focus on specific players is interesting, but wrong, IMO.
The first place to start is to identify the problem positions we have. And then see what our squad has to fill them.
For the last few years I have been on the same rant. No.1 need is an aggressive, goal kicking small forward. It's a gigantic gap

DATA:
1. The 2014 list of goalkickers contains exactly ONE Richmond player - Jack - in the top 30. Pathetic.

2. In a not unrelated stat, in 2014 we only scored >100 points in 4 of the 23 games (83% failure). Hawks did it 15 times.

3. We are locked into a tall forward line set-up now, and for the foreseeable future. Riewoldt, Vickery, Griffo, McBean, etc. Crumbs galore.

4. This type of player exists and other clubs have managed to develop them. It's not Mission Impossible.
In 2014, Breust, Gunston, Eddie Betts and Hayden Ballantyne have all kicked 50+ goals with numerous assists.

We need a small forward who can kick 35+ goals a season. Jake was good at locking the ball in but he was never going to kick a ton of goals. Gordon isn't the body, speed or athletic type. Dusty is way better and bigger than this type of role. Ballantyne may be a turd, but he's the prototype of what we need.

So:
a. Is there anyone on our list who can become a Breust/Gunston/Betts/Ballantyne? Actually, we need two, to provide backup.

b. If not (as I would argue) then what's our plan to get two of these types from trading or the draft? We have cap space so who's out there we can target?

I'm Merely pointing out that everyone here is pretty much stating we need outside pace and we let a player with that quality in abundance leave (who also was a tig fan) which baffles me. Don't think I was over the top at all but obviously you seem to think differently?

Can people please stop trading Grimes. He is essential to our backline and the way we play. If the ball gets over the back he, Rance and Houli are the ones with the most pace and composure (sorry Morris) to get back and tidy up. He can play small and tall, third man up, lock down ect... he is the most versitile of our defenders and hopefully, touch wood, getting past his injuries.

So Ty stays...not to fussed about that, his step up in the Eagles game when he gave Cox sucka a going away present, swung me as a fan. Not that I condone such behaviour, but the fact that he got a sly one in the guts and said **** you and took him out in front of 40 thousand feral she-girls, suggests the kid's got what it takes.

I think he's more referring to the rose colored glasses people wear for the kid

They bitched about him being in and out of games when on our list, but now he's an elite midfielder (apparently)

This is despite the fact Rodney has shown on more than one occasion his stats between this season and last ain't that different. Also he is still used a lot as the sub.

Geez you don't rate Conca much!! I am sure GWS would nearly fall over themselves to let Shiel go for that. Bl... hell Shiel is not worth that!!! If he is he hasn't shown near it yet, nor is likely!!

Grimes was not our worst on the weekend looking at the replay. I thought he could hold his head high honestly.
