If the B-sample comes back positive (ok when), I understand we can not replace then on our squad of players however two questions:
1; do we continue to pay them (I am presuming not, but you never know these days)
2; if NO and this brings our TPP under the minimum allowed are we then open to sanctions from the AFL for breaching the salary cap

Haven't seen anyone answer the second question, but I would think in such circumstances the AFL would never try to fine us and if they did we'd have them on toast. That said, they won't be fired tomorrow, that would presumably happen after they were found guilty at the tribunal. Until there is a tribunal result I assume they remain suspended on full pay. (maybe minus any match payment type incentives).

Is Here. I'll cross my fingers for a good result

Been said many times now, Essendon got special permission for top up players because they were unable to field a full squad otherwise.

We will have no such issue, and therefore, not have permission to get top ups.

They clearly don't know about the bucks curse and the inevitable injury list that awaits us!

yes I would assume they remain paid until proven guilty to which their contracts would get ripped up due to a breach of contract. if this does occur the silver lining for mine is that perhaps we can forward pay Pendles or Cloke assumed $400K say between JT and Keefe. giving us greater scope going into 2016/17 to go harder at a Dangerfield.

They've said we probably won't find out B sample results until Friday or possibly Monday.

We already know the result. It is almost impossible for the B sample to be any different. Other than the scandal to our club and the fact we will be two short for the year, this is now a non issue for me moving forward.

They will get two years minus any backdating etc available to them but will not be available to us this year and so are not a concern for us this year. I may be taking a short term view but that is all that matters. I won't be wasting any more time on these two, we have games to win and finals to make.

cheers, was thinking along the same lines but as this is the first time this has happened under the the new code, the AFL may not be fully prepared for all the domino effects ie clubs being short on the salary cap

I think ASADA were basically f'ed once word got out to the Peps that they under the gun and started the shredding machine whirring. Basically the lack of paperwork saved their skins.

As I said, regardless of whether you think Essendon were guilty of some indiscretion or not, ASADA prosecuted the issue with a macabre vigor, gusto and I believe far, far too much public airing of "opinion" from within. If ASADA some officers were bound by the same parameters as the legal system they would be disbarred for prejudicy.
But....far more worryingly, ASADA prosecuted the case with open pleasure and malice.
They made grandiose claims and backed them up after the umpires ruling with........vapid insults like the school bully caught with his dick in the Janitor.
A case they had absolutely no evidence to support from the very outset.
They've said we probably won't find out B sample results until Friday or possibly Monday.
Why don't campaigners like ASADA just STFU until they have something worth mentioning?
Hope this doesn't drag on for another "Golden handshake building" 2 years McDevitt.

So when do we find out the Results?
Players found out the results today. If they came back negative the club would have announced it right away and the players would rejoin training tomorrow. However as we have all suspected the results have most probably come back positive so the players would have been issued a show cause notice right away. Im sure the afl has given the players/club a couple of days until they announce it so they can put a spin on things to lessen the damage on the afl/club/players

True - The AFL would try and make this sound as Good at they possibly can.

Though the Media might go with it before Official Announcement

It's only fair that the club gets a chance to speak to the boys before they delist them.

Do they actually find out the results today? I thought they were testing the B samples today. Is it the kind of test where you get the answer right away, or does it take a couple of days for the results to come through from the lab?

ABC just reported that the tests occurred today, and the players will be notified in the next few days.

Ok so does anyone know if they had to pee in a cup again or does their first sample get tested again? Cause if their coke was lined with a tiny bit of cleb then surley a few weeks afterwards it would be our their system?

If suspended for 2 years (2015 and 2016) can they be traded at the r dog the year to a club that is interested in playing them in 2017? Unlikely, I know, but there are a few clubs looking for key defenders- keeffe in a package could appeal to teams who are still developing- GC, Bris, GWS, Saints, Melbourne- Syd may need a kDP by then.
