There is a quiet confidence emanating from the club.

We've said so little about it. Haven't reacted, aren't releasing statements about the situation, not trying to hose down speculation, not giving ultimatums or deadlines. Just a straight no comment every time. Rinse, repeat.

Not necessarily confidence that he'll re-sign, but at least that we have the situation under control.

I don't think it's confidence, and I don't think it's panic. I think we understand the situation and nothing has changed. We have our strategy and that's that

I do not think we will match. I think it's all a bluff. We know he's going, and we know we can't afford to end up with egg on our face or no compo. The situation is what it is.

All this crows will match is absolutely emanating from the club, we are briefing journalists left right and centre

We're not going to match because that this walking into a room with the door locked behind us, there is no way to back out. But by bluffing we send a message:

1. We encourage Danger to take our offer, but letting it be known we'll make it really hard otherwise
2. We force Geelong to offer more than than they want, thus making their cap mgmt more vulnerable.

We still don't have any leverage if we match, and we won't, but it's interesting that we are trying to manage the messaging to influence negotiations ahead of then

That's when we were rebuilding ....not our current situation Kane

Do you think it'll happen ?
Just replying to your post that it supposedly never happens when it already has.

Personally I would trade Wright.

It take courage to win a premiership. If we don't have that courage, we will be an also ran for a number of years.
Yes ....and you have to make smart decisions not emotive decisions

I wish we would see who was bluffing, but I don't think we will as he will re-sign.

So we all know danger is going. Been listening to too many uninformed 'journalists'...

yeah ok. you don't watch games, i'm sure of it.
Need to read my posts on Wright and Van Berlo in recent days .......you're making emotive calls without any reference to Draft, contracts, list balance & age breakup .....just pure emotive call

He is brodie martin of 2014 and is only playing because of injuries to Crouch, henderson, janesch , otten etc
 ...Wright plays forward .....all the players you've named play defence or diff role ?

No way, unless he has another major injury or repeated soft tissue inj for the rest of the year.

We really want to sign a guy for 2 years against his will so that he can walk out on us in 2 years time?

Whilst we didn't have RFA or FA at that time, I remember Ryan O'Keefe wanting to leave the Swans and go to the Hawks. Trade didn't happen for whatever reason and he played out his career with Sydney.....and in the process won a GF in 2012 after looking to leave at the end of 2008.

Whilst its not ideal and certainly won't look great if he only signs for 2 years, it doesn't guarantee he'll be gone.

Things can change in a short space of time.

You want to keep a injury prone player who can't last more than 11or 12 games a season combined at AFL/SANFL level. Cheney is a better option and Otten can play at both ends of the ground making him more valuable to the team despite his knee injuries.

Nothing has come from the club. Nothing at all. They're not commenting on anything.

You're assuming we're 'leaking' to the media that we'll match. How dumb would we be to do that? It says we've conceded he's gone.

There is no bluff. Nobody knows anything about what's going on.
