As I see it from the replay, particularly the last slo mo of it, Mummy jumped into Duncan and, as he did so went slightly side on to his left side with his arm down. Duncan was in a vulnerable position. Mummy as a player had to collide with Duncan in order to stop him from simply running off with the ball. There was a collision. There was no tackle. I think Mummy got off because in the circumstances there was little else he could do realistically. Jumping as he did and going slightly side on were done more to protect himself than injure Duncan. And there is no indication Duncan was more injured by being jumped into or Mummy being slightly turned.

There was a duty of care but in the circumstances Mummy did what a reasonable footballer would do, protect himself and hope for the best for Duncan. Right result. To protect himself Duncan should have known not to take possession of the ball. Presumably he was concentrating on the ball rather than the opposition (to his credit) but lack of awareness of what is coming is will always get a player in trouble. Had he taken the time to assess his options he might have tapped the ball over Mummy in which case Mummy might have had an obligation to avoid or minimise the collision.
Since when does mummy need to protect himself the blokes a man mountain Duncan didn't even see him coming ?

Hahaha Hardwick doesn't understand the Cotchin criticism, is 'flabbergasted' by it.

Tuggers won't do anything significant under him.

For me, it looked like Boekhurst flinched.
He saw a player coming in and expected to get taken high but wasn't so he played on.
He has not shown any tenancies towards 'staging' previously so the whole singling him out thing is a bit much.
Bolton will deal with it in-house.

As people have already mentioned where was this outrage about career-diver Lloyd and current floppers Monfries, Darling and Selwood?

Thought the same but wasn't sure if it was just the Carlton in me. He actually did well to adjust so quickly after not being collected and getting the handball out.
If the umpire hadn't paid the free would it have been noticed at all?

Very interesting read. Did notice McKenzie-Murray almost seemingly had a bigger issue with Judd than anyone else.

I think he was more just highlightingthe flaws of a win at all cost culture amongst the elite players and how even Judd was prepared to overlook his depates destructive behaviour in the pursuit of a premiership.

Pretentious crap. That story is about how clever the reporter is, nothing more. If he wanted to tell the story about the Eagles he would not have made high faluting value judgements throughout.

Nonetheless, if you edit him out and just read the interviews and the facts, it is a ripping yarn. But he ruined it by inserting himself in it.

Gerard Whately saying Eddie Betts was not the player at Carlton he is at Adelaide and gushing about the Rioli like vibe when he goes near the ball.

Shits me. He was electric at Carlton and statistically just as good for much of the time. The only difference was we didn't have a dominant tall forward so Eddie was often the go too man whereas he gets fed better at the Crows.

**** the ignorant arseholes who ignore what they don't have an affinity for. He was ours and we appreciated him. History revisionists.

Sometimes one doesn't know exactly why they're not functioning at optimum levels.......they think they are but a new environment adds something they hadn't quite experienced before.

Betts had said that he hadn't been pushed as hard as was the case when coming to Adelaide and that doesn't surprise me.
Betts seemed to train outside the regular group at times and I'm not sure why? Not sure that was a particularly good ploy from our coaches at the time.

I loved Eddie at Carlton but I personally think he's gone to another level since he's left. I hate it as well.

He was as good but the team wasn't.

How many freak goals did he kick for us? What sort of buzz was there when he was around the ball?

How many 50 goal seasons did he have with us? (I do already know the answer).

He's far more consistent these days. It's not to say he was no good with us, he very much was, but I think he's improved since he left.
