If he can be back for the finals ...

Announcement today...

"North Melbourne have secured David Swallow by both parties invoking a little known 'if both clubs are undefeated after round 3' free agency clause that has allowed free passage from Gold Coast to Arden Street".

North Melbourne... the innovators!

Taylor Garner is likely to miss two to three weeks of football, North Director of Football Geoff Walsh says.

The young gun strained his hamstring in Sunday’s win over Melbourne in Hobart and sat out the final quarter.

“It’s a pretty standard minor hamstring injury and the good news for Taylor is that he’ll likely only be sidelined for a couple of weeks,” Walsh told NMFC.com.au.

“Scans backed up our medical team’s initial assessment that it was only a low level strain.

“While he had a lengthy lay off in 2014 with hamstring related issues, we are confident this latest injury is only a minor one.”

Not a bad result considering his injury history. A shame though as he was just getting continuity in his game

Given his history I think we can only mostly be relieved.

Chance to be dropped anyway.

Hopefully it actually is two weeks not that "other" two weeks :rainbow:

Spell might even do him good and come back better.

Taylor Garner will be out for at least two weeks with a hamstring strain

NORTH Melbourne forward Taylor Garner has escaped major injury with a hamstring strain he suffered against Melbourne expected to sideline him for 2-3 weeks.

Garner was injured in the third quarter of North's thrilling win over the Demons on Sunday and played no further part in the game.

North announced on Tuesday that scans had revealed Garner had a low-level strain that would keep him out for no more than three weeks.

"It's a pretty standard minor hamstring injury and the good news for Taylor is that he'll likely only be sidelined for a couple of weeks," North football chief Geoff Walsh told NMFC.com.au.

"Scans backed up our medical team's initial assessment that it was only a low-level strain.

"While he had a lengthy lay off in 2014 with hamstring-related issues, we are confident this latest injury is only a minor one."

In 2014, Garner missed the entire premiership season after rupturing his left hamstring tendon in a NAB Challenge game against Hawthorn.

The former Dandenong Stingray had hip surgery at the end of 2014 and did not return to North's senior team until round 15 the following season.

Garner finally enjoyed an injury-free pre-season this summer and carried that momentum into round one, when he kicked two crucial goals in North's 10-point win over Adelaide.

At 186cm, the fourth-year forward gives North's forward line a point of difference with his ability to mix it at ground level and in the air.

The 22-year-old signed a new two-year deal with North earlier this month that ties him to Arden Street until the end of 2018.

Garner was North's first pick in the 2012 NAB AFL Draft, at No.15 overall.

I agree - looks like he might have needed a rest anyway. He wouldnt be anywhere near as fit as the rest of the team seeing he only completed his first pre season this year. A rest wont hurt him at all
