Whats a bit another month
I'd say that's about right. It could be earlier; the club line at the moment is that Jack will tell Roos when he feels ready, and then I think we'll try and find a spot for him when next available. Not sure how ultimate footy works but I wouldn't be relying on him to fill a spot for you, but if you have some space and he's cheap (or something) then yeah maybe not a bad bet.

Sorry guys a little off topic but I want to know if it's just me, is the Bont a little overrated at the moment? Definitely does some nice things but the commentary when he goes near it seems over the top,
Please be gentle, this is my first post!
No, his rated #7 in the AFL (http://www.afl.com.au/afl-player-ratings)

Had has some massive games, however his had a slow start to the season due to a surgery during the off season.

Good player, ill be amazed if Vince doesnt go to him like last year at the G and put the clamps on him again. Macca obviously thinks he is a key to your success.

Those stats run off a players past 40 games. A guy with a broken leg is still #1, hardly relevant to this season. He did seem to be doing more of his fat plodder work than usual earlier this year compared to his first couple of seasons. Hopefully he can get that good form back against a team with a real midfield.

Gif is a good reminder why Chip leaving wasn't really a big loss though so thanks :thumbsu:

Garland or Jetta probably the best options but all our options have limitations against Stringers abilities.

Don't worry, we don't have anyone that can match Hogans abilities either. So don't be surprised if we get a good old school shoot out. Like the Gaz Snr vs Plugger days (this may or may not be wishful thinking).

We are actually #1 for clearances in the comp at the moment so it's our biggest asset. Defending transition is where we battle but it's going to be interesting getting you guys onto the wider MCG for the first time this year. Hope we bring our best to make it a pretty interesting contest.

Yes, that's what makes this game so interesting. You've got arguably the 2 best midfields in the comp (so far this year) facing off.

I do have to correct you on your choice of statistic though. 'Total clearances' is a inherently flawed statistic because not every game has the same amount of stoppages, and some teams could play a game style which leads to a higher amount of stoppages than others. For example, a team with a high stoppage game style could actually be #1 in the AFL for total clearances even whilst losing clearances every single week.

The statistic you're looking for is clearance differential. Which measures whether or not a team wins the clearance count each week, and if so, by how much. Melbourne and the Dogs are still miles ahead of most of the rest of the comp in this statistic as well.

Clearance differential:
1. Bulldogs +11.9
2. GWS +8.3
3. Melbourne +6.3
4. Sydney +5.6
5. Geelong +5.5
...
17. Collingwood -5.4
18. Brisbane -9.6
http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_team_rankings?year=2016&type=DA&sby=29&advv=Y

Contested Ball differential:
1. Bulldogs +28.1
2. Sydney +15.0
3. GWS +14.3
4. Melbourne +9.3
5. Geelong +8.2
...
16. Essendon -13.9
18. Brisbane -19.8

So it's safe to say tomorrow we will see 2 of the best midfield's in the comp facing off.

Be careful when judging our midfielders on stats this season. David King brought up a great stat 'On The Couch' showing how we are the highest rotating midfield in the competition. We have 13-14 genuine mids who rotate through the middle every game, with most averaging %50 or less time in the middle. With Lachie Hunter at %65 spending the most time in the middle. Whilst Bontempelli was around %50. Compare this to Viney, Cripps, JPK, Mitchell and Fyfe who all spend %85-95 time in the middle.

This also explains why Bont is kicking so many goals as midfielder (1.4 a game), kicking 1,3,2,1,2 over the last 5 weeks. Because he's spending so much time up forward.

Thanks for linking the differential stats, I have been looking for them for weeks.

Keen to see how we structure up with Kent out and Salem back. I'd reckon it's as simple as Salem to HBF and Michie plugging holes off the bench.
Thought maybe Hunt to the forward line as he kicked a couple bags there in vfl last year. But loving he's meters gained game off the backline

Nah it will be someone like Harmes or Kennedy playing more forward, Salem to HB and then Michie making up the time in the middle as an Inside Mid
