This storm in a tea cup will last for days and become this week's boring media topic of the week. No name journo hacks will forthrightly gab on about their worthless opinion about this. Ex-players will try maintain their relevance by going off the long run with all kinds of hyperbole. Dermott will hypocritically crap on about "the spirit of the game" totally ignoring the number of times he was reported and the number of guys he knocked out with acts outside the rules.

All the while Lindsay is the scape goat again and a "hate Lindsay" campaign is being stirred up by a pack of gutless wonders.

Enough's enough. NMFC has to watch this carefully in the next couple of days and if it goes too far must get on the front foot and attack back. One of our players is being singled out for abuse by the media. NOT ON.

Not saying the media are racist. I'm saying their is a double standard in media because of how people are viewed. When I mentioned that it was 100% racist it was more in terms to how he is treated by the wider AFL community and supporters. Last week at the Carlton game there was so bloody horrible things said about him when he went near the footy and I'm sure if I was at Sydney last night I would have heard the same thing. It's a reflection of society as a whole in my opinion.

Goodes was probably the wrong example to use, but Goodes played for free kicks and did some pretty antagonistic things during his time on the field. He got boo-ed because of those reasons. Everyone in the media considered it to be racism. Went into bat for him because it was impacting him.

Thomas plays for free kicks and does some pretty antagonistic things on the field.Gets boo-ed every single time he touches the pill and gets vilified by the crowd every time he is near the fence. Why is that not racism? Everyone in the media went into bat for Goodes, while Thomas cops a character assassination every week.

You don't see Shuey, McLean, Selwood and a whole host of others coping the same sort scathing criticism that Thomas cops week in week out. Why the hysteria around Thomas when there are so many other players that do it?

The whole thing that Thomas is a flog and every other word under the sun really under sells how much of a good person he is. He does an absolute mountain of work for indigenous communities, through the Huddle. He has set up a number of programs that help marginalised youth yet all of this goes unrecognised Because
The media continue to drill him from all angles.

It's a shame that so many people think he is a shit bloke because of how he plays on the field, because he is genuinely one of the best blokes off it.

By the media? No. Not just for this, but going back to the Gary Rohan's broken leg, or clashing heads with Ben Reid - neither incident had any malicious intent but the lynch mob was gathering round with pitchforks and torches trying to hang him. And constantly going on about his goalkicking which has actually been OK apart from one bad spell in his career. He's just hated.

The groundswell against this head high crap has been building all year - yes, largely due to the efforts of Toby McLean. But in every case, there was someway the umps could rationalize why they gave the free kicks...

This time though - and its got nothing to do with LT per se - they were given the perfect example of the most ridiculous head high free kick ever, that allowed the anti-free kick group to point at it and say "that right there!"

And thats a good thing - the AFL is nothing if not reactionary. Maybe the umps will get told to back off a bit.

Of course, Goodes slid into blokes for years and it was never much of an issue until LT caught Rohan's leg and then all hell broke loose. While there is an element of Thomas' behaviour that brings it upon him, it doesn't explain the mass hysteria. Pitchforks aplenty!

Goodes didn't play on it anywhere near as bad as Thomas. No doubting that Thomas' acting is a big part of why he gets focused on so much. That's why Goodes wasn't a good comparison.

Im not sure if you can say those players cop no criticism, Selwood recognised as one of the great duckers/shruggers. Either way these highs where the player draws contact needs to be rubbed out, I think Hewitt for us does it and I dont like it. McLean the other day was putrid. I think the drawing of the high tackle is causing the most angst amongst supporters because the intention is to not play the ball its to draw a decision from the ump which is just wrong however the rules enable it hence they should be looked at.

Watched the match in a pub last night with the volume on mute and I'm genuinely astonished that Lindsay is even being talked about.

High free kicks were drawn by both sides, but nobody from where I was drinking was focusing on Lindsay specifically last night.

You'd think in a pub with 50 people watching and drinking that someone would get rowdy if one player was milking for frees.

Get on here and apparently Lindsay was being attacked by the commentators.

Hard to see this as anything but a media driven witch hunt because from where I was watching none took any notice.
