My biggest worry during the final quarter was what would happen to us if we lost another close one to a top team.
Felt exactly the same.

Can't be happier with the outcome [emoji4][emoji106]

I have never watched a game twice like that...soon as I was home last night from it, again just now. Oh and the last quarter twice. If that sort if win does not create self-belief nothing could. One I will long remember, like 2009 r14.

Satisfyingly quiet train carriage, thought we'd accidentally got in one of those quiet carriages...until I noticed the quiet sobbing around us! gonna have fun at work tomorrow!

As for that Hawkins incident, frame by frame, unless there's a touch of feet tangle or he tripped himself, the only possibility seems to be a dive! Who'd have thought?

Let's Appreciates Blakes game 21 disopasals
Solid 9 posessions in the last most of any player on the ground
Yes his kicking was slightly off but by 50 games it will be Mitch better
Also he had 488 metres gained more then Dangerfield
And third/fourth best for the saints
But in 76 per cent game time an underated last quarter

Cleared the ball out of our defensive 50 three times in the last few minutes.

Always looks composed & not flustered. Stood up when it counted last night.

13 years ago, i watched a young Saints team knock off the top of the table and all conquering Lions in a thriller.
7 years ago, i watched a battle hardened Saints beat the all conquering Cats in the greatest home and away game ever
Last night, i thought we have come full circle. Our youngsters stood up and beat the flag favourites again - and boy is our future exciting!!

Few points i want to touch on;
  • those who think Bruce is suffering from the blues are wrong. He is putting in so much work off the ball. Last night, if he was paid that mark against Ruggles, he would have had 2 goals and had just reward for his effort. Most weeks this year he hasn't hit the scoreboard in a big way but he is mr consistent and still gives us around 2 goals a game. I love him!
  • McCartin, will be a star. Up until getting whacked in the face - he was the most dominant forward on the ground. I just love how at 20 years old, experienced battle ready defenders cannot move him in a contest. He is so close to going bang in a game -I CANNOT WAIT
  • Jacky boy!! could he win this years brownlow? that is how good he has been. Someone do a quick vote count!!
  • i nailed Richo the other week, only fair to praise him. Last night after we got back in front from Jacks goal. Our Center bounce line up was: Hickey,Minchington,Ross and Acres. He gave those kids a chance and they delivered in spades.
  • Gresham, Holy Shieettt!!! What a goal! i went with my Richmond supporting cousin and his jaw dropped. That side step was amazing.Rising star nomination surely!!
  • Seb Ross, Sorry - i was wrong. You're a jet, Will be top 3 in our Bnf If it was held right now
  • Acres, if anyone still doubts him - then you're nuts. This kid, is starting to show some real class. Always stands up when the game needs to be won (Third quarter against port). Was just massive at the end. I seriously cannot wait for 2018. He will be an Animal.
I love this club so much!!

Also a shout out to Moorabbin Ghost - Called the result and Paddy's game before the bounce in a message to me.

Just how big this win was last night for our season cannot be overstated.

Sitting in 12th now with a handy percentage break on Carlscum, the two teams above us (Melbourne and Richmond) have difficult games in the next two weeks; Melbourne having Adelaide at home and Fremantle in Darwin, and Richmond having Port in Adelaide and the Dogs.

On current form, they both lose both of those games, whereas we have the abject Suns up there and the Injectors at home. IMO we should be winning both of those, and sit in 10th ahead of a crunch game against the Dees in Round 17.

The only downside is our draft pick keeps drifting... :tearsofjoy:

which could mean that we look to trade it for the right deal, (I'm looking at you GWS)!!

Bloody fantastic win Guys!
Gave your club some shit on the Crows v North match day thread during the week, labelling you lot a "Crappy club". I was wrong and apologies as you are anything but.
Love a lot of what I saw last night and thinks you guys have a very good amount of talent to take you forward.
Bruce was an inspiration along with Ross,Weller,Gresham and my favourite player outside of our list in Steven, who is an out and out superstar. Only player who got on my **** watching your game last night was Hickey.

Anyway excuse the intrusion. Well done and good luck for the rest of the year!
Would love to see you scrape into the 8, then somehow do the same to the Cats, knocking them out so we don't have to face the,...

Cheers.

Acres....last quarter he made an apparently "weak " handball as he was being tackled on the wing, ball went out and luckily not called deliberate. On the replay you can see that ahead there are six Handbaggers and a sole Saint (soal Saint?). That apparently incipid handball to get it out was the absolute only option, ecexuted perfectly and one more reason I am becoming a huge fan.

Got to say it's good reading all the comments from non-Saints supporters on our board. Do you get the feeling that the Cats might have rubbed a few fans up the wrong way ? Made worse by the media's sickening love affair with Danger-wood ?

A true sign of our development will be next week against the Suns away from home. Let's hope we continue on the outstanding effort from this week and don't take the Suns lightly on their own turf.

Fantastic win today. Barely any passengers. Sandy win too. Drink up !
I have the tickets for me and my family here, we are going to be loud and proud and will represent

Most of it has been said, but after watching the highlights, a few things that stood out for me
  • Bruce's center clearance that resulted in the Gresham goal (and the simultaneous orgasm of about 50,000 Saints members). People have been hanging a little bit of flack on Bruce here lately, and he may not be in the form he was in in the first half of last year, but I think it is unwarranted. Bruce is, if anything, a team player, and he brings so much more to the team in pressure acts and goal assists than he does in just a goal count. Which is great, because it means that you just cannot stop him from influencing games. You may be able to dry up his goals, but he'll find a way to do just as much damage in other ways. Set up at least 3 last night.
  • Hickey's tap to Steven for the last goal. That was an amazing tap, to the top of the square, in what I can only assume is the biggest pressure moment Hickey has faced in his career. Brilliant tap work and whats more, brilliant maturity from the big man. He could be a top 5 in the comp ruckman in the next couple of years
  • Gilbert's spoil in the last 15 seconds. That ball had Bartel written all over it, and not only did Gilbert keep his man out of the contest, he managed to get a spoil on Jimmy and saved the game
  • Blake Acres night. Blake has been in and out of the team, and I'm all for it. He needs to want it, and he needs to work on some of the deficiencies in his game. The thing that struck me with Blake last night was that he always seems to be in the right position. He just know where to go to find the footy, and how to move in congested situations. If he can improve his disposal by 10-15% then, with his positioning skills and his big body, he will be the elite inside/outside mid that we really need.
  • Mav Weller. Just Mav. All of him. I absolutely love the kid. He isn't the most skilled player. He isn't the tallest or the fastest or the most clean. But I get the feeling he would bleed red white and black. And it's not just in the way he plays, but in everything he does on and off the field. The way that he takes young players under his wing, the way that he has clearly bought in to what we are doing at Morrabin. Even the way he conducts himself online, which I know is a really weird compliment for a footballer. He is the epitome of what we are about at the moment. He was given a chance to prove himself when every body thought he was done, and he has done it not because of some natural talent, but by pure force of will. Love him
Can't wait to get Billings and Sinclair back in to this team. Can't wait for Carlisle's suspension to be done. Can't wait for Paddy to absolutely destroy a game. But man, after a win like that, it makes the waiting that much more enjoyable.

Well, well well...

This is the big scalp that we needed. This is the new era defining result that we have been working towards.

Won't go into individual analysis of players because many others already have.

Some serious momentum robbing decisions last night.

One aspect I have banged on about these boys is their effort and now growing resilience.

An epic win for the true believers of the club and where we are going.

Special shout out to two players:

Firstly for Geary. Just watched the replayed and wow, I bow to the man. I have seen the light with this bloke.

Secondly, Nathan wright. Absolute warrior.

I know that some of us prefer other players in place of Wright, Minch and Del, but shit these boys have stood up when given their opportunity! On the basis of the last few weeks, all three should be given another year. Long term depth? Perhaps, but the more fancied draft picks will have to fight for the spots, which is only a good thing for the future.

Finally, young Longer has a mountain to climb if he wants to reclaim the number 1 spot. Hickey was amazing. So athletic with his chases and 2nd efforts... and he will only get better.

My only real negative is our crumbers. I know the small kicked 9, but we still seem to lack a good front-and-square player. Just seemed to come out a bit easily at times. But maybe I am being too harsh.

A great win.

This gets me no end. The fat bastard _fell over_. That. Is. All.
Watch Robbo's eyes. Only on the football. Nearly marked it too. Was not a free.

Then when you consider Paddy got his nose rearranged and it was play on they have nothing to complain about. Flogs of the highest order the Geelong were robbed camp

Got tickets by mistake last night was never meant to go but so bloody glad I did i tipped Geelong by 40 odd and I said only way we can have a chance is if the pressure is up, as that is the way the Pies beat them.

It wasn't just a great day watching STK def Geelong it was also great to see players like Nick O'Kearney who hopefully plays at sometime this year, Sinclair, Templeton who have clearly improved as well as Nick Coughlan who is a bit under weight at the moment.

But the win last night was awesome because in the last two seasons I think we've only beaten 1 top 8 side in the Dogs and what a comeback that was. Beating Geelong also proves we are on the right track and gives us real hope going forward as fans.
Gresham whata freak so glad we have him, he just knows how to kick those freakish goals and when he has ball in hand you know he is going to use it well, well done young man.
Supporters who are talking about finals unfortunately we are not there yet, even then we'd need to win practically every game this year to make it. Still need to work on our disposal and consistency going forward and finals is a must in 2017 when hopefully Carlisle, Freeman and another first rounder make their way in the squad.

But lets enjoy this one we beat top of the ladder!
