Bulldogs CEO David Stevenson resigns

Says the guy that supports a club that's been a basket case and continually wanting handouts for god knows how long, you may be up a bit at the moment but you can slide just as quick.
If not for other clubs you lot would have folded long ago.
You do realise that the equalisation fund is to compensate clubs who are impacted by the AFLs obsession with making money. Make the fixture even, the stadium deals even, tv exposure even and the draft even then come back and have a crack about clubs receiving hand outs. Its almost like you think this is still a sporting organisation.

yeah, you keep your hand out.

Need to be honest 10 clubs in Victoria isn't going to work on pure numbers alone, it is getting back to survival of the fittest.

As they say welcome to the big league
Yup. And only one of them is $10mil in debt.

Are we in agreeance here that melbourne can't support 10 teams as you two seem to think a 10 million dollar debt and at another club the coach and CEO being paid by the AFL is not normal and not sustainable

No.

But don't worry North will be in Tassie in 10 yrs. North the new South.

Only one club in Melbourne has their coach and CEO paid for by the AFL.
Only one club also had the simultaneous collapse of their board, FD and admin at the same time.

There's only one Joe Gutnick - I win. :D

You guys from the Minnow clubs need to face reality sooner or later or it will be death by a thousand cuts

Glad you wanted a national Comp

Hey Smarty Marty why don't you start a thread about this topic. I'm sure many folks in addition to me will be only too happy to tell you to GAGF. :rainbow:

The reality is money talks and the media buyers want at least 18 teams.

Time for you to face facts. Us minnows are your lifeblood.

Correct and if the AFL are going to pay for you, they may aswell move you to the ACT, Tassie or NT to take advantage of the population opportunities in those states as Vico is saturated.

It's not the best to hear, but just an honest look at the situation

No, they have been saying that 10 clubs cant survive in Melbourne for 30 years. And I suppose in another 30 years when there are still 10 clubs in Melbourne they will still be staying it.

Only one out of Melbourne and the Dogs are still in the race to win this years flag: and aint Melbourne. ha ha.

Except that Melbournes West is one of the fastest growing population corridors in the country.

Your next inane, factually incorrect statement please.....?

Not if your debt continues to rise from 10 million to unserviceable levels which it probably is at the moment reliant on handouts to stay solvent

Do the maths your population in Vico is around 4 million divided amongst 10 teams SA has a small population of 1.5 million but only two teams. Considering the divide isn't even between those 10 with the big 4 having the biggest chunk your support is at minnow levels and will never be significant

You have no idea, do you??? Go back to the Adelaide and discuss Troy's Parnell umpiring, no one wants to listen to dribble .

Hahahaha have you finally worked out that it is inevitable what will happen to the bulldogs eventually? But feel comfort in the fact you wanted a national comp but unfortunately you were never going to get the support to play in one!

Anyone baying for the blood of any Melbourne club should do a quick but if research into how the NHL took teams out of the heartland (Canada) and moved them to new markets (warm weather US cities). It almost destroyed the whole league.

I'm not calling for blood, just stating the honest truth of the way the competition is going. It was stated it's all about $$$ and ratings by bulldogs supporters. To get this the league needs coverage of the whole of Australia. To add more teams will cost the AFL more so utilizing it's current teams by spreading them out amongst the states to get more Tv coverage is clearly the way they will do it. For the bullies to retain their identity in anyway they will buckle to pressure. Especially if they can't service that 10 million debt without the support of the AFL
